The secret to Advanced C2 Fluency and speaking like an English native speaker is lexical chunks - idiomatic expressions. In this video, you will learn 60 Lexical chunks - idiomatic expressions. For advanced C1 fluency, you need more than good grammar. You must also use lexical chunks of language. This is how you learn a language as a child! We use Lexical Chunks - Fixed Expressions, Phrasal Verbs, Collocations, and Idioms - all the time in our conversations. If you don't use them, your fluency will not improve. Use them, and you'll boost your ability to communicate fluently in English.

🚀 If you are serious about improving your fluency, I recommend our
Chatterbox Zoom Workshops. They are friendly, informal and by far the most effective
way to improve your fluency. We focus on C1/C2 Vocabulary, Idioms and expressions. 3 x 90-minute workshops per week. Practise speaking with other international learners and with me. Click the link below:

*** My name is Steve Ellis. I have over 20 years of experience as an English Tutor, gained in several countries and cultures, and have worked as a Teacher Trainer for the British Council, which provided valuable experience. My teaching qualifications are from the University of Cambridge. I achieved a First Class Honours Degree in Psychology, aided by my writing skills. I am a published author, and before teaching, I held many leadership roles, including in business, so I am well acquainted with British English. I now teach online, focusing on learners wishing to achieve C1/C2 level.
🚀MY MISSION.
All too often, learners of English reach B2 level with a sound grounding in grammar, but cannot speak fluently. To achieve C1 fluency, requires a vast knowledge of LEXIS. Lexis is more than individual words - it's clusters of words that are frequently used together - Lexical Chunks. They include collocations, idioms, phrasal verbs and set expressions. Being able to effortlessly bring these to mind in conversations is what constitutes fluency. My MISSION is to demonstrate these in action by using examples of how they are used in conversations - in context. Of course, grammar is important, but as Michael Lewis said in his book, 'The Lexical Approach' (1993), "Language is grammaticalised lexis" - not lexicalised grammar!
What set me off on this mission? Over twenty years of teaching English and as a Teacher Trainer with the British Council, I witnessed how little attention is devoted to the use of Lexical Chunks.
My mission on this channel is to set this right.
