Excellent videos, as always. THIS one really hit home for me. I've had this very problem a number of times and NOW I understand why. Thank you! Suggestion: if you've going to have, let's say, three videos in a series, please label them 1/3, 2/3, 3/3, etc!

Ahh, such a little thing, and that's what I've been doing wrong ... thanks! I really appreciate your advice, you've no idea how frustrated I was not being able to figure out what I was doing wrong! My book says NOTHING about this, so ... thanks!

I’m pretty sure this is exactly what I’ve been doing and exactly what I keep thinking each time! Thanks!

It's so easy to make this error if you're tired and rushing! And the results is a lot of frustration and stitch ripping!
So glad that I have been able to identify the problem! Thanks for posting this.

Very nice explained, a lot of people are not paying attention to this important issue and are ending up with a lot of unnecessary problems.
The technicians will be happy to charge 100$ only to retread the machine, and they will not even reveal the problem because in a short time they can charge 100$ again and again.
Of course there are many good technicians, but there are also a lot of golddiggers out there.

Omg thank-you! I've been trying to figure out why my bottom tension wouldn't tighten. I didn't have the thread at the core. I thought it was supposed to be closer to the outside of the disk. You have just helped me tremendously! Thank you!

If that is the case it may be a timing issue. If it is a Sailrite sewing machine we have videos (that are not public) that can be emailed to you that show you how to re-time your sewing machine yourself. Check Needle Bar Height, Driver Rotation and Gib hook location (all on the DVDs that come with the Ultrafeed sewing machine).

Hi Eric, I am a very happy owner of a Sailrite sewing machine and have used it very successfully for several years. My last project was full of tension mistakes, with lots of "bird nests" and snapping thread on the back of the fabric. Help!

@sakura851 You want the upper tension to be only so tight that it pulls the bottom thread up tight against the fabric. Any more tension and you may get puckering of the fabric.

I am sorry we only support sewing machines that are made and sold by Sailrite. Since your sewing machine is a Singer brand you may need to contact them or the store you purchased it from for technical help.

I am sorry, but we do not sell Singer sewing machines and so we don't know how to replace the timing belt for that model.
