I’m glad you accounted for a monthly maintenance line item. No matter what the car’s age, you WILL need to pay for maintenance (unless you’re into that kind of thing and can actually do it yourself)

As long as I have alternative methods to commute, I refuse to get a car.

God bless my little hometown for having a good public transport system

150x 12 x 2 is 3600. So you've more than bought that car again in the next 2 years by paying for insurance. Are people wrecking a car every 2 years? Those insurance fees are a rip off!

My insurance is 40$ a month. I have no experience and an old car.
How does anyone pay 150$ a month for insurance, that's insane!

Seriously, be careful! I have to pay $250 in insurance, and that's the cheapest I can get it. Always check the insurance on cars. (FYI, I haven't had any accidents or tickets)

yeah I just bought a car for 13100zl (3275$) and just the registration, tax and inspection costs were 542zl (135.5$)
+ 500zl(125$) for AC, full OBD check and a little repair and I'm still waiting for the most expensive ones wish me luck😭

edit: they said its gonna cost a couple thousand for the little repairs, looking for another mechanic rn 😭

And that, my children, is why we vote for city councilors who prioritize dense housing and public transit!

It’s so terrible how people are forced to drive because of a systemic under investment in public transit. Driving is so expensive it really should only be done when absolutely needed and beneficial, like for work or moving

this is why I don't have a car. it's just such a waste of money if other modes of transport are available

I know it was used just for an example, but don't buy a dodge dart. I own a 2013 1.4l turbo limited for the record. They aren't reliable, so many recalls, transmission is shit and they have a ton of electric issues. Also, double check what gas you have to get. I have to get premium gas (91 octane or higher). It gets expensive fast.
