That actually sounds great for just pet owners who don’t want them breeding and want something lightly more manageable than a koi

thx for the info<33
Also my goldfish died about a month ago right before my birthday. She wasn’t eating anything. I changed the water every week and also checked the temperature.

Actually, I did! We have a park with a pond that has a bunch of carp. About 12 years ago now, someone dumped some goldfish.

Now every once in a great while there's a funny colored carp.

There's an albino one and I look for her every time I go. I know where she likes to hang out.

Just thought I'd throw this in but this video is basically the definition of two different species. When two different species have a baby, it's impossible for the baby to have more babies. Great stuff as always Luke :)

Not all the time my friend! Sometimes a mule can foal, Though it is VERY, VERY, rare it’s still possible! Don’t rule it out^^

For those who are curious, the reason these hybrids tend to be sterile is because they receive a certain amount of chromosomes from one parent and then a different amount of chromosomes from another. This is just a result of different species of animals having a different number of chromosomes. But if they’re genetically similar enough, they’ll still be able to have off spring, but since a part of meiosis involved the chromosomes splitting and repairing up, when they have a different amount from each parent it becomes impossible if not very near impossible to produce viable sperm and egg cells. As far as i’m aware this doesn’t affect their quality of life though 🙂

Koi fish are smart and adorable fish. They are my favorite type of fish. ❤️☺️

That means by definition, the hybrid babies are hybrids, and can’t be called a species!

This is really interesting. Hi Luke, I never deserted my FAVE channel on YouTube. I just had a major setback in August 😢....got robbed...had to re-build everything from scratch. So glad to be back💖🐟🐟🐟

The only hybrid animal I personally know of that isn't sterile is the jiger or the taguar, tiger and jaguar mix, which is kinda scary. Because you're left with a bigger jaguar or a smaller faster tiger, both of which are scary.

In our koi/goldfish outdoor pond we have one of these! She’s the sweetest toughest fish we have in there, she’s white and has a few orange spots on her belly and has two different eye colors!

Fun fact:
Not all mules are sterile and, in some cases, can indeed breed, there are a handful of documented cases in which mules have made babies from eggs containing only their mothers dna bizarrely this means that each female mules offspring is genetically their half sibling.

Thx for reading have a good day

In theory rge hybrids can safely stock outdoor ponds without risking escapes during floods and having them breed out of control
