Linus should move back home to Finland and take the Linux name and kernel development with him and away from the toxic american politics. We can crowd-fund him to replace the LF money.

Linus' apology has a mixture of unicode and ASCII apostrophes
he edited some original draft in a text editor and whoever got this apology out of him put in their edits in a office suit.

they ruined Firefox. they took over TOR, they tried hard to get it in the end they had to really force the issue. now ruined. they ruined vidya. they ruined comics. they ruined films. they ruined everything. This is good advice that sums it up pretty well.

I wish to be independent, but I cannot write a kernel from scratch.

I feel like if Linux itself were to “die” because of an issue like this, then overall the idea of Linux has failed us. Linux is an ever changing being that anyone can contribute to and to let a small group of people “destroy” it is almost amazing to think about. I think the way we need to look at this is just the next evolution of Linux itself. Fork it, mod it, swap it, whatever. Linus will at some point will inevitably die and someone will need to keep the ball rolling.

I'm looking forward to hearing discussions about *privileged* root users and documentation lines like "dead child cleanup in a SIGCHLD handler" and "prevent zombie processes but don't actually do anything with the information that a child died"

Did anybody at Nvidia get involved? It won't be surprising, considering what they're doing now with their "new" GPUs.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as /g/, is in fact, /g/pol/, or as I've recently taken to calling it, /g/ plus /pol/.

It is literally impossible to be independent from these people, because they control the government. The government, by its definition, is the ultimate arbiter in any dispute on a given territory, including the disputes in which it is one of the parties, therefore, having the complete freedom to initiate force against you.

Good advice Luke. I'd like to add to that by saying we need to recognize that many parts of society (open software collaboration is one example) is harmed by the application of false realities such as 'community' and by using a pseudo-language to describe such things as 'inclusion'. I say this because the community construct is a myth; there really isn't one, nor should there be - because if there was, that very community would, by virtue, need to accommodate the very idiocy that, given the right opportunity, will tear down that society to reconstruct it in it's own form. Community 'spaces' are tantamount to sanitizing the dynamics of human interaction - in all it's filth and glory - and is counterproductive and inefficient. Open source does not translate to open politics and these people with their ideological perversions are, in essence, the 'enemy' and ignoring them has not and will not make them go away.
Personally I'm most disappointed there will likely be no more public comments of the "Nvidia... fuck you" kind. Society needs people like Linus who aren't scared to say these things - loudly!
At the end of the day the loss is not going to be related to Linux kernel code quality, but rather the loss is no longer having someone who has contributed so much and has the balls to say "Fuck You!".
