Cough after respiratory infection - how long is normal?

Показать описание
Coughing after a chest infection is common. Many patients are worried about this residual cough and many seek medical advice very early after the infection is gone. For up to 6-8 weeks after the infection, there may be a persistent cough and breathing may not be fully back to normal. This is expected, as the airways in the lungs are still recovering. If it is slowly improving, this is usually a good sign.

It is a good idea to rediscuss the matter with your doctor and seek medical care if the cough persists over 2 months after the chest infection and does not show any signs of improvement.

This is helpful. Can you exercise like normal with it? I’m in that stage and it feels a bit weird because I want to exercise but the cough is still here and it’s deep in my chest still

I've been coughing for about 50 years (no kidding, it's true), whether I have a cold or not. Puffers don't work.

It's been more than 3 years and I am still coughing. I have visited multiple doctors for the treatment but all of the treatments are just temporary. The cough remains in control till I take medications and after that it again starts.
I had pneumonia in the year 2021 and after the treatment of pneumonia I am still having cough. And it is so irritating for me to spit it out because it keeps coming in my nastral air ways multiple times in a day. Please suggest me what to do for a long lasting solution.
