Mr. Sexton has some legitimate points about Marriage. There are mental health issues that can implode marriages, one example would be Narcissism. As most therapists say, it is almost impossible to get a Narcissist to get counseling as they believe they don't need counseling. Narcissists blame their partner for all the problems in their Marriage and refuse to be accountable for their own behavior.

Getting married is one thing. Getting kids is something completely different. My advise is to talk to someone honesty who is married and has kids for a good 20 years and cares.

I really like his input, on the other side it’s hard to know this: being intentional is necessary to make a marriage and a family work. Things don’t crumble in a day and also you don’t need to like the same things to be o mr stay married, what you do need is to make time and share the others interests.
Think about all the things necessary to date… it’s a lot of attention and intentionality!! So why not put the effort in the marriage you are in already and spear your self for the heartbreak???
I’ve been married for 9 years, living together for 13 and we’ve gone three different seasons but I don’t see divorce as an option, that’s why we keep in check and put in the time to nutre our relationship.

People should not marry young, because they have no experience or are inmature to confront the reality of marriage ‘s responsibilities and hardships. Men should marry around forty and women at about 28 . and over. This way the man is done with chasing women and has established himself financially (hopefully), enjoyed his youth and freedoms. And so are women. Now, they are ready for settling down and to commit.

Let’s not forget the ones that move out and because there’s not a certificate of dissolution of marriage they counted in the married stats even though they live their lives as single people. I know someone who has been separated from their spouse since 1968 and they live separate lives in NY and SF. They’re not young people and they’ve both had children before they got married, while they lived together and after they moved away from each other
