W actually is not the context menu button anymore, it's right-clicking with an object selected to bring that up now.

This is one of the best introductions to Blender. Just follow along and if you have any problem, just go back, pause, and try again.

Some important things you skipped, especially since this tutorial is for beginners:
- Reference images. Modelling with reference images in the background is the best way for beginners to acquire a sense of scale and detail.
- Real world units. Modelling in real-world units is crucial for correct scale and depth of field later on.

A useful shortcut I found for xray mode is to use alt+z (xray mode) or shift+z (wireframe mode). the more shortcuts used the better :) (btw great tutorial. I'm already loving it.)

I barely started using Blender yesterday, and I can not believe how powerful this application is or why I never started using it any sooner. It's very scary also because now I am seeing the world in CGI lol, and having plenty existential crisis because I can not tell what is real or fake. Blender is such a beautiful app.
