I believe I read that Edward was known for taking the subway instead of all the formality of being driven around. The article said that most people did not recognize him and those who did were very low key about it. He worked on a career although it didn’t work out he did what he loved. He wasn’t out creating scandals as his siblings all did. Yes he was his parent’s favorite but he worked hard to earn that title. It is obvious he inherited the intellect in the family. I have great respect for him and his wife Sophie. They are what all royals should strive to be.

It is easy to bounce around with your future when you have the safety net of family riches. Of course he was favored. He was the last child and the only child where Philip was present at birth. That presence at a birth can half a huge impact on a father. For Elizabeth; he would always be her baby. It is just how it goes. I read, at some point, that Elizabeth also had an interest in theater and acting. So, of course, she tolerated her baby's pursuit into the profession. It is how he met Sophie, so I supposed that was a good thing as Elizabeth took to her so well. I think, in his youth, Edward resembled Andrew in his looks. They were all good looking in youth -- as most of us are. There is one thing about the royals, though -- they do age naturally. No augmentation for them. Of course, this may not be the case for the newer generations as augmentations are becoming almost a norm in society. I do believe the 'stiffness' of royal protocols will diminish with each passing generation. I think it needs to. People want to feel that they can interact and relate to their figure-heads. I also believe the newer generations will be a great deal more educated than the older generations. More of the newer generations are pursuing roles within public life. Despite his bouncing around; I think Edward was one of the first to attempt this. I have no disdain for royals of any country. They are what they are. The people of those countries seem to feel they are needed or else, I should think, 'royals' would have faded away by now. It seems that people -- in general -- need someone to idolize. Subjects of Monarchs have their royals. Americans -- in the absence of royalty -- idolize celebrities of the arts and sports. Really no difference in that respect -- it is all idolization and to some degree worship. You have some people who deny belief and worship in a God; but I guarantee there is some celebrity out there they do worship in some form or another. I believe it is just part of human nature. Nice piece on Edward and his family. He may have bounced around in careers; but his commitment to his wife seems to be rock solid -- better than his siblings. For that, I can offer him respect.
