In the '90s, the rock genre was dominated by alternative, grunge, and pop-rock bands, but Queens of the Stone Age's 1998 self-titled debut album provided rock fans with a different sound they called “robot rock.”

It pays to be different, and the album was well-received by critics. The band continued to experiment with various sounds on their following album Rated R, which was both commercially and critically successful.

“Feel Good Hit of the Summer” is still a popular summer anthem, and it really made a splash when it was released, since it didn't sound like anything else on the radio. To find out more about this trailblazing band, here is the untold truth of Queens of the Stone Age.

I love this band. As popular as they are I still feel they are underrated. Legends.

Josh Homme is a legend. I’ve been listening to Queens and Kyuss a lot lately. Rated R and self-titled are without a doubt my favorite albums of theirs.

Josh is one of my all-time favourite interviews. He was so friendly, open and curious... after I interviewed him, he impromptu asked for a tour of our (very small, but technically innovative) studios. He was genuinely interested in our (A Channel) story.
Obviously his music is... well, it's on the top of any of my playlists. But I can say... Josh was one of the nicest, intelligent musicians I've ever met.
Would it be strange to say I'm proud of him? I mean, we were all a bunch of young people thrown into a bizarre world of Entertainment News back in... 1997?. And this was before the VH-1 "mainstream-understanding-of" rock star lifestyles.
Well, whatever... I'm proud of him; he's an impressive artist.
I managed an Entertainment beat for many years. Budget cuts means this isn't a job in Alberta anymore beyond volunteer-level. But as it goes off into the sunset, I wanted to note how open, curious and kind he was... way back when. Yo, Josh... you have been NOTED here!

I had never noticed the cowbell in Don't Fear the Reaper until the SNL skit. Now it's all I hear.

Feel good hit of the summer is literally a song about Joshua Homme walking back to his pad after getting really fucked up and counting all the different substances he had used, in his amazement he was able to list a surprising and scary amount of substances he had previously consumed that night, not to be cool or impressive but it sparked an idea for a song that means much more than its stand out lyrics

These guys are actually really good live. Saw them in Chicago. Their fans were an epic crowd. REALLY fun gig!

Elton John and Trent Reznor were never in QOTSA. They only appeared as guest musicians for a song on Like Clockwork. Dave and Mark were absolutely members of the band, writing, recording and touring with the band.... This video is called "The Untold Truth Of Queens Of The Stone Age" but should probably be renamed "The Most Obvious Things Pretty Much Everyone Knows and A Few Things We Got Wrong." Do your homework.

One of the greatest concerts, if not the best one I've been to. They're absolutely amazing live.

I don't get their hate toward the In my head video, they look super cool and the model is gorgeous. Yes, it's not as original as their other videos, but still... it's also nice to have contrast. Beside, that song rocks so hard they could have put cows in a pasture in the background and it'd still work

I love in my head. Had no idea they hated the music video for it.

I never find much content on my favorite band.

Even if I knew all of this info; thanks for including them and informing new people.
