Scotty,
I did this last night, but with the high pressure hose, and it worked perfectly. My father-in-law is the careful type and was nervous about me doing it myself. So he stopped by with he neighbor who is a mechanic to take a look at my handywork. Said I did a real good job. I did give you credit and even showed him and his friend your video on my iPhone. Later I showed her dad how to acces your videos and he watched a few.
Thanks, Trevor - Sarasota, FL

The best part of this video is the showmanship. Excellent work putting motivation into an instructional video!

Not over time. Places like harbor freight tools sell them a low prices, and mechanics these days charge 100 dollars per hour labor. If you like my car help, be sure to watch my live car talk show every saturday morning at 10 AM CST on google events. I answer your car questions LIVE there. Just go to my scotty kilmer channel on youtube saturday morning at 10, and click on the google plus icon on the top right corner. That takes you to the event. You do have to be a member of google plus to ask

Fix it yourself if you happen to have all these specialized tools.

Auto zone rents out the vacume pump and set of ac guage! for a deposit and you get it back when it's returned

pressure is there even not running, gauge would show that. you can inject dye into any system, but it won't run to find leaks unless there is enough gas to run the system.

I love Scottys enthusiasm....wish this video wasn't HD though...it's taken 15 minutes loading to watch a 3 minute video and my internet is pretty quick too!

sure, leaks or vent doors or MANY things can stop em from blowing cold. Hook up ac guages first to analyze the pressures of the system and go from there.

@TheRongacula your evap drain hose is clogged up, that's AC water from condensation. Flush that hose out, I use a garden hose myself to unclog em

@JayJay6569 your truck is stuck in default mode, defrost. check for vacuum leaks under the dash and under the hood, you lose vacuum pressure, it goes to default. Scotty

@Matthew55904 the H line is the high pressure line, you can not fill it with that line because the pressure is too high, you would only blow up the cans you were using. Scotty Kilmer

@Vistal11 generally, no, stop leak rarely works on AC systems, too much pressure. Scotty

some guys use liquid nitrogen, but you gotta but that too. Just use refrigerrant. 134a isn't that bad.

@mark73168 just hot wire the compressor clutch power wire direct from the positive battery cable using a small jumper wire. Scotty

@danajesse You have a vacuum leak somewhere on the intake system. Your vents are powered by vacuum pressure from the running engine, and when the system leaks, the default vent position is feet and defrost, so you don't freeze and the windows don't fog up making for dangerous driving. So run the engine and look for a vacuum hose that may have fallen off or rotten, it will be sucking air and making some noise. Scotty Kilmer

@hp11208 adding freon will not make a car overheat, but running an AC system that wasn't working before can IF the fans don't work right on the radiator OR if the radiator is old and can't take the extra heat that the AC condenser then blows in front of the radiator (since the Ac condenser is in front of the radiator, that extra heat makes the radiator work harder, and an old worn out rad often can't take it.) start there. good luck, scotyt

often refrigerant leaks or bad compressor. Open the hood and check for leaks and listen at the compressor first.

@douglasgonsalves there is not cut and dry answer to that. Depends if much leaked out and there's no way to tell. Just guesswork, you'd have to empty out the entire system, take the parts off and drain all the oil out, and put a factory load back in. If you're worried, put half an ounce of oil in. Scotty
