Thanks Scotty for all your videos on A/C diagnosing & repairing a vehicles A/C. I did it to my wife's '05 Ford Freestar. (compressor, condenser, drier, orifice tube, expansion valve on the rear evaporator core). Flushed the lines 3 times, pressure checked the evaporators and Bam-O, COLD air. wife is HAPPY, i'm happy
Make sure ya tighten the ground on the drier otherwise ya get issues with the PATS system !!! Aparently it's the main ground for the PCM !!!
Thanks Scotty, you da man

Another way to check the evaporated for leaks without contaminating the tip of the sniffer tool is to let the car run for 10 mins with the AC on. Then turn the AC off but the blower speed on low and check the center vent with the sniffer. I'm not knocking Scotty for checking the drain but sometimes you can get false readings when you get debris in the sensing tip.

Very informative.  In my experience, 9 times out of 10 it is the AC compressor leaking.  Everyone should know that in order to get an empty AC system to build up pressure to find the leak, you have to add enough refrigerant for the pressure switch to activate the compressor so the clutch engages and it actually spins.

I would note to make sure the electronic leak finder is rated to detect the type of refrigerant you are using, the individual refrigerant specific kind of detectors tend to work better than the universal kinds, and some of those leak finders can be nothing more than electronic dowsing rods, I had one that would beep different rates and detect leaks depending on how the sun hit it. The kind I went back to are the kind with a flame and a suction tube that makes the flame change color never had a problem with those kind and they are just as sensitive.

Thank you Mr. Kilmer for your video on replacing the cabin filter. I was able to find mine (thanks to your video) and I replaced it (it was filled with dirt and leaves) and now it runs
like new! Just in time for Chicago's summer heat. Thank You.

I love watching your videos, I have learned a lot about cars just from watching you. Your videos are so simple and easy to understand. I do small engine repair but I am also interested in auto mechanics. Thank you Scotty for your information.

I had a small leak in the evap and my mechanic added some freon with a sealer and 2 yrs later, it still works!

I'm glad my air conditioning has never had trouble. It's about 24 years old, too. Not bad for a cheap car.

This is what I'm afraid of for my 2009 Toyota Sienna. It's time to get one of those leak detectors! Thank you, Scotty! Liked and subscribed!

The oil in the prius ac system is even hard for me (Toyota Tech) to get at the dealership. Thank god they barely fail on us. Only seen maybe 2 electric ac compressors fail in the last 3 years or so. Mostly failed because other shops put in the conductive regular old school PAG oils. Only one evap core in a new Tacoma this year so far. Parts were on intergalactic back order! Lol. Nice job with the sniffer. Never seen one work before. Maybe I'll try one now. Good job and as always you always work on Toyotas in your videos, lol!

Best mechanic on Youtube. 46 years of experience, we should be considering ourselves lucky to have access to Scotty's channel for free. Also, all the Benz cry babies saying he hates on the brand. I have two Benz's (CLK 320 convertible 05 and E550 2012), and he's spot on about the terrible engineering. In the process of selling both, although I can easily afford to keep them, the fact that you can't even check the oil levels on the engine because of a lack of dipstick + the other fails Scotty pointed out about Mercedes - I couldnt bare to keep them. Go to ANY US Benz Dealer, they're all crooks.

Gotta love my old F 150. Evap changed out from the outside firewall by removing blower assembly and short work under dash.  Condenser is easy and the linesets are easy. Just remember. OIL the O-rings before ya button up. Those little puppies are a leak looking for a place to escape. IF your A/C doesn't run in winter to temper the heat, remember to run it once a week for a few minutes. Keep the oil laden refrigerant flowing to keep O-rings pliable. If you leave it sitting up any lenght of time just figure on replacing all the O-rings. And don't forget to oil em.

How it was working on hybrid ?

I have a Hyundai Atos . Internal AC core is held by 4 screws and 2 refrigerent hoses . For dismounting it, you also need to remove passenger shelf (2 crews) and I recommend to remove passenger air bag (2 screws) for easier access . I removed it this spring, as air started to smell a bit because car has no cabin air filter and it had some leaves stuck inside AC core (never removed for 15 years) . I like older cars because they are super easy to maintain .

So Scotty if a person finds leak behind dash and is able to remove dash, is the repair somewhat simple or is it technical?
