After breaking my knee earlier this year really gives you time to think. Im a pretty decent rider grew up riding. you dont wanna put a kid on one of these if there not ready for it, would hate to see a kid hurt cause the dad wants his kid to ride just cause he does. Alot of dads force there kid to do something just cause thats what the dad wants them to do. Prime example my uncle had his son racing was sponsored by team Green they dropped like 14, 000 dollars into this 85 damn thing would rip. kid got over confident sent it over a jump 70-80ft suspension bottom out he broke both elbows then my uncle had to wipe his ass for 5 months lol needless to say they both learned a lesson 🤣

One of the biggest memories for me. Was when my dad would watch me ride, I'd try to go past him as fast as I could. And everytime, he said it wasn't real fast. So I pushed further, and further, and further till I was the fastest guy in town.

My kid didn't want to ride. I told him I'd pay him. Now he's spent an hour a day for the past couple days. I didn't think THIS was the reason dirt bikes were expensive.

Funny you made this video. I gave my stepson my yamaha 110 (he's 10yo) to see if he would like riding... he was so uninterested until earlier last week when he started watching some kid tommy mx on youtube and then he wanted to learn how to ride... so, I taught him a little tid bit of what I wish I knew. Some of the helpful things I found for him in the beginning was 1- starting out in 2nd gear (smoother), 2- when you go forward you have to lean forward (the more you go, the more you have to lean, and same with the brake, except lean backwards), 3- elbows up (and showing them why so they understand is very important and same with this next one), 4- balls of your feet on the pegs with toes pointed in and knees tight in the middle of the bike, and 5- learning how to have throttle control - this was the hardest one to teach but the most rewarding once they figure it out. So that was my day 1, we just worked on those just slowly taking off, cruising until you put your feet up, and riding around at that pace until you stop then coast to stop (didn't work on brakes yet, his hands are small so its a stretch for the front brake). Good progress, and he hasn't stopped talking about riding since, which is amazing considering it took an act of god to get him off his video games... so to those of you that have been needing something like this, hopefully this will help you out. I had to let him want to do it, but once I did and we went through the steps slow and taking our time, and now he loves it. It's amazing... and after the lessons, I let him just go out and enjoy what he learned. Next week, once we have gone gear shopping and the weather gets a little better here, we'll go into braking, standing etc (he got a little whiskey trying to stand so that'll be the next big hurdle I believe)

Took my kids out for the first ride on a ttr110 yesterday. Having open spaces is super important! First one went down bc poor throttle control and the bike went straight for my truck. Didn’t hit it, but we changed locations.

I don’t like the training wheels either but our little guy uses them still because he is way too small to touch on the 50. And it gets him out on the trails with us. I can’t wait till they are off but I also know he’s not ready. Jumping and stuff with the little bmx but the crf50 is still too tall/ heavy.

I’m new to it, I wanted to do it. I was inspired by my uncle (he’s a gamer, rides dirt bikes, atvs, quads, side by sides, and he’s the coolest)
