What if Future Gohan went to the past with Future Trunks? FULL STORY

This is my take on the classic story of What If Future Gohan Survived? Also known as What If Future Gohan went to the Past? What If Future Gohan never died? What If Future Gohan Lived? Etc. Hopefully that makes this very, very clear!

A destroyed city, two Androids, and one half-Saiyan. This is the setting where Future Gohan and the androids would have normally had their final clash. A tragic end to the son of Goku who desperately tried to save his world while being unable to access his own potential. However, it doesn’t have to be this way. A slightly weaker attack from Androids 17 and 18, Future Trunks waking up slightly sooner, or many other factors could have led to Future Gohan surviving this encounter. So today, let’s discuss what would have changed if Future Gohan Survived.
Trunks manages to find Gohan on the cusp of death, but there’s still time to save him if he can bring him back to Capsule Corp quickly. So Trunks carries Gohan back to Capsule Corp where Bulma is able to use the facilities to keep him alive for now. No senzu are left so Gohan’s life is in the hands of machines which are barely keeping him alive, he’s not getting better, he’s just being maintained. Powerless, to even stand let alone fight.
After three years of waiting, Bulma’s time machine is finally up and running so Trunks goes back in time to warn the present Z fighters of the threat of the androids as he does in the original story. However, before Trunks heads back to his own timeline, he asks Goku for a favor. Using his new teleportation ability, Trunks wants Goku to get one Senzu for Trunks to bring back to the future. Goku agrees and quickly teleports to get the senzu. With the bean clutched in his fist, Trunks returns to his timeline. The minute the time machine lands, Trunks runs to Gohan.
He feeds Gohan the senzu and for the first time in years Gohan is no longer in critical condition; however, his arm is not restored as it’s been gone for so long that it is a scar rather than an injury. To explain simply, Yamacha had the hole in his chest restored by a senzu, but his facial scars were not healed. Back to Future Gohan though, he is able to walk, talk, and train again. The pair have time to train together as they wait for more time machine fuel to be created, and once it is they both go to the present to assist against the androids.

I always considered the future Gohan turned super Saiyan as a kid during the big fight with the Androids where everyone died. Him suddenly becoming a super Saiyan is what allowed him to escape with his life. Thinking this was the Pinnacle of power and not really having an opportunity or guidance never looked for anything further beyond it. That is why I think future Gohan is much weaker

It's so sad that the canon original timeline is dark. It's why I love seeing Trunks fight for peace for everyone like Xenoverse

The future Trunks timeline was one of the most interesting plot points in Dragon Ball. I liked how it reached back all the way to the Red Ribbon arch to create a new level threat to challenge the heroes. It also created a new alternate future full of mystery for the fans to experience. The History of Trunks movie was also my favorite movie from the Dragon Ball films. All around a great storyline.

Not sure if anyone said this already, but in part 2, it would've been cool if Future Gohan still had one arm so when Present Gohan was down an arm after saving Vegeta, they could've both used one arm to complete the Kamehameha.

Krillin's body was completely blown up on Namik, which didn't stop him from getting wished back. And, in Dragon Ball Super, Freeza is resurrected probably around 10 years later using Dende's Dragon Balls. I don't see why the Z-Fighters could not have been wished back one by one.

I have a feeling that once Future Cell tried to kill Gohan and Trunks, they would just look at each other and laugh as they proceed to smack around Future Cell like a Volley Ball.

The one missed opportunity here is a chance for Future and Present Gohan to train together in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Each of them could have learned from the other and grown as characters as a result.
