The funny thing is actually the customer anchored the price at 80usd first. It could have very well been 10000usd or 1mil or whatever.

I always ask for a lower price, I set the bar lower before the seller can set it higher. I learned it from my mum when we used to go to Turkey and bought from bazaars.

He messed up tho by quickly jumping and saying “wait wait just for you it’s $100” drag it a little bit to make them think they haggled instead of the sale person folding

#1 rule. Never fall in love with what you're buying. If they want to raise it too high come back with a $60 offer and ask them if they really want to play stupid games.

Someone tried to do this to me in the past. Joke is I forgot how much money I have in my wallet and I just kept overestimated the amont. When we negotiate, He had to anchor the price two times until I open my wallet to see that I have much less money than agrred price and he decided to anchor the price again.

Yes I've done this before but with bigger numbers by selling dirtbikes and quads but its tricky because if you set that price too high you will scare of a customer specially if he has seen the product somewhere else before or knows a little too well about what's he is looking for
The more good options your customer has the lower that price anchor should be bc they will choose another product or the same one somewhere else

4 years ago one of my friends sold me AirPods this way; we agreed to $100 but he said he got a higher offer and was willing to give it to me for $115. It was worth it though, I still use them to this day.

This is sales 101. There’s also product placement, “sales”, color schemes, phrases such as I’m trying to get rid of it, a million different techniques that actually do work.
