One time, an interviewer gave me a hug after we talked, but I didn't get an offer! Led on indeed.

In my experience if the interview felt really good it means I won't get an offer. I generally get offers from the interviews that felt the most like a waste of time. I stopped trying to figure out if it went well or not.

I dont even rely on the “signs” anymore. Either I get it or I don’t and if I do, I might have some fuzzy feelings on it but nothing is set in stone. I can only hope for the best and know I prepared and gave it my all! This is so I don’t get let down if the outcome doesn’t go as I want it.

Ultimately, I think every interview comes down to personality. Most interviewees will have similar qualifications and experience. It's those the interviewer feels a bond or connection with that gets the job.

I had an interview & it went well, they told me I was a strong candidate. The hiring manager said call the next day and I did but he didn’t answer..two days later finally got in touch with him & I didn’t get the job. Needless to say I felt foolish for assuming I got the position lol

I've had all these signs in an interview, especially the office tour, and then didn't get the job. And the interviewers didn't even respond back to say they weren't taking me on. When I chased them up, the HR person who had been communicating with me had even left the company (which they obviously knew at the time of the interview) so they were never going to tell me until I pursued them. I've learned in subsequent interviews that even the most positive signs don't seem to mean anything.

I’ve learned over the years…. Nothing is a good sign, nothing means anything except signing your I-9…… then, it’s a good sign and you got the job. Plain and simple.

I was SO lead on. They told me to start looking for apartments in the area. And then I didn't get the job.

The Hiring manager told me "I'll definitely contact your recruiter immediately ." I got a job offer in one hour.

In regards to number 2, yes! I followed a bunch of your tips and thought the interview went really well, and I even knew someone at the company prior. The recruiter said she really enjoyed talking to me and said I would hear back from her within a week. Then she ghosted me. It hurt because I thought we had a great conversation and felt confident and comfortable during our chat. Oh well.

Tip 5# overtime is not a sign, I had the longest interview +1hs then wasn’t selected for a second round ! So it’s not always true !

I remember an interview process with HPE, killed every single one of my interviews. In the last one i was recommended by the previous manager to have an agresive approach and ask for the job at the end of the last interview, I remember i said, "when do I start?" The hiring manager said that was exactly what i was looking for! You nailed it! Yeeehaaw god bless america. And then when i received the call from the recruiter saying that they decided to hire only fresh out of college candidates. 3 months I'll never get back. I DONT TRUST ANYTHING ANYMORE.

I watched this right before my interview just for fun. Really did NOT expect any of these to happen to me but SEVEN of them did! Including being introduced to the CEO just because! Then got my offer as soon as I left the building!

I know everyone's experience is different. It was just really cool to see these scenarios play out almost identically in my situation :) Thanks for making insightful, encouraging videos, Madeline!

The office tour is also a good way for them to see how you interact with some of your possible coworkers!

I'm waiting anxiously!! I was an intern at the school, and the HR said 'We'll review your application and get back to you', which doesn't sound promising, but that's what they said during the first round and they immediately called me back for a second round! Everything went really well in both interview rounds. Fingers crossed!!

Yes! I had SIX! SIX!!!! interviews with the same company, which were more like relaxed discussions about my experience and the changes the company was going through (including extreme growth). A few days after the last round, when multiple members of the team offered up their contact emails in case of further questions, I got an auto-rejection email. The recruiter got back saying that feedback was positive, but they'd decided to "go another direction" with the role and hire someone with an entirely different background. My emotions have not recovered from being played with like this! What is going on within the organization when something like this happens?

Interestingly enough; I've had all these happen me and still did not get the job - and got ghosted to boot. At the end of the day, and in my experience, interviewing is kind of a crap shoot - you just really don't know. All you can do is put your best foot forward, research the company and ask the appropriate questions. At the end of the day there are soooo many factors at play that you have no control over. I'll give a classic example - years ago I went through an interview process where I thought I did terrible on my first interview - then they called me the next day and flew me out to their location and I interviewed whole day and got the job at the end of the day - I could not believe it. And I was there over 5 years as one of their best account managers.
