The BROWN RECLUSE Isn’t THAT DANGEROUS?! #spider #spiders

Показать описание
The brown recluse is a feared and misunderstood spider that can be found throughout the eastern US. These spiders are often blamed for massive necrotic lesions, though their bites have not been documented to cause these sores in actual tests. It’s likely bacterial infections that become misdiagnosed as spider bites, which means these spiders aren’t nearly as dangerous as many people believe! I’ve actually taken two deliberate brown recluse bites on my channel which are publicly available to watch! Check those out if you have any other questions!

This is absolutely incorrect, The brown recluse spire bites do cause necrosis, which causes infections which causes large areas of tissue to be removed. A friend of mine was bitten and went directly to the hospital and still nearly lost her arm because about 1/3 of her bicep including the major arteries had to be removed over the course of a few days. Telling people its basically harmless is very irresponsible.

I saw my grandpa get bit by one when we were hiking about 10 years ago (dude was insanely mobile in his mid 70s). He got a gigantic necrotic lesion and had to have the dead tissue removed. They 100% deserve the reputation they’ve built.

Okay, there’s misinformation from both sides in this comment section, so I’m going to clear some shit up:
The Loxosceles is the genus that brown recluses are apart of. There are over 140 known species in the Loxosceles genus, and only a handful are found in the US (only one or two of which are native, that being the brown recluse and the Arizona/desert recluse)

THE BROWN RECLUSE IS NOT AS DANGEROUS AS EVERYONE MAKES THEM OUT TO BE.

While yes, certain necrotic lesions have occurred from a brown recluse bite, but here’s the breakdown:
Of the approximately 5000 brown recluse bites that occur in the US every year, between 8-10% of those result in some amount of medical significance. Of those 8-10%, less than 10% result in necrosis. This means that, of the 90% that have a significant reaction, absolutely no necrotic lesions. You actually have to be pretty unlucky to get a lesion.

Remember people, we are almost always shown the worst of the worst. People constantly leave context out for clicks, and most of the people against recluses in this comment section are biased purely based on misinformation.

I have been bitten and it didn't do much damage...But a guy who delivers to my work got bitten and you could see the bone in his finger after necrosis took its toll..I think it's like anything else, some people may be more suseptible to their venom..

Damn lie, I was bit by a brown recluse and I was treated in the emergency room, and apparently the treatment didn't work completely and had to return to the emergency room a week later.

A lot of bites get infected from scratching with filthy hands.

I got bit twice by a brown recluse spider. One healed fine while the other one got terribly infected. To say what you said is wrong. Some people have very serious reactions which can lead to amputation even death. Their fangs have bacteria which causes the infection. I had to go through 2 courses of antibiotics and I'm over 2 months into this now and am still dealing with it. It wasnt exactly on my bucket list. The burning i felt on my lower leg was felt 24/7 and it was extremely painful. I had trouble walking without a cane. My leg still swells and i still feel burning although that pain isnt like it was. Necrosis means death of body tissue. It didnt get that far thankfully. Which necrosis turns black. Had i ignored it, it very well, could've caused necrosis. If you suspect a spider bite see a doctor. Again people do have bad reactions while some have hardly any and like the first bite on my leg, it was healed in 2 weeks. This second bite was bad. I was in florida when it happened and despite what the internet says they are there. My doctor did test the bite so it waa definitely a brown recluse spider.

My grandma had a hole in her ankle and the surrounding area was purple up until she passed away. She was bitten when she was young too. So yeah I'd say they can. 🤨

This is a sickening amount of misinformation, as with any meds or chemicals some people are far more susceptible to damage. Some people get a rotting hole in the flesh others just get an irritated red bump but they are NOT HARMLESS.

It takes a special person to love spiders. I will never be one of those people. They are, after all, iconic of Halloween for a reason! 😅 Your videos are simply amazing to see. Still, no love here! 😮

I don’t know where this guy got his information from but when my dad was bitten by one the bite site rotted 1.5” inches in a circle and 2” inches deep that the Dr’s had to cut out his calf . If that spider doesn’t cause necrosis and rotten flesh at the bite let it bite you then smart guy
