Teen spider: gets kidnapped, panics, but doesn't bite
Human: congratulations, you're now my pet

A lotta people don't know that black widows are actually very shy and reserved spiders, and aren't aggressive in the slightest. They only bite when they feel absolutely necessary, and sometimes even only as they're actively being killed. Thanks for shedding light on this lol they're so pretty

I like to see how she became more tolerant and less fearful of your presence once she shed her exoskeleton

Thanks for showing! Spiders are so misunderstood. I think they’re fascinating and we 100% need them!

Beautiful. I used to keep them as pets, too. I grew up in a place where these gals live abundantly. I often miss them.

I've been bit by the black widow and I just got flu-like symptoms and the byte spot enflamed a little.
I got bit by a baby brown recluse and the bite mark turned black as night and started to grow. I lanced it and used a professional device to suck what was inside (bubbling, fizzing orange blood along with the poison. I got sick for a couple days (bad flu-like symptoms) and still have a sunken-in wound mark on my arm 12 years later. This dude is braver than I am when it comes to spiders. Peace and grace.

That is so neat!

I studied zoology in college, and worked part time at a reptile breeding facility. One day while taking out the trash, I felt a spiders web under the handle. This was common because we kept feeder crickets and meal worms, and so spiders became our normal clean up crew for any escaped feeders.

What I didn’t realize was that the spider was a black widow with her eggs!. I brought the garbage bin back and looked underneath and saw her there huddled with her egg sack.

I knew they were not quick to bite, but it still surprised me just how unwilling she was, even while guarding her eggs!

Thank you so much for the work you do advocating for these creatures. ❤

She is beautiful! I'm so glad you showed people that they don't want to bite they only do it when they feel threatened!

Fun fact: the "biting" you see in the beginning of the video is actually something called "anchoring", which is when a spider uses thier fangs to grip when thier feet cannot.

In the clip at the start, she was only sinking her fangs into the top layer of skin and NOT injecting venom.

Spiders are real sweethearts that help keep pests off of our crops and out of our homes! They are natures pest control, as well as pioneers for new ecosystems, and most are VERY reluctant to bite, because they know we could easilly crush them if they do.

Arachnids might look a little freaky, but our little friends are miracles of nature, and should be revered! I love them so much <3
