You know you found your calling when the alarm goes off at 6:30 in the morning and you can’t wait to be up. Everyone should be so lucky.

I must say, beating all those egg whites into stiff peaks by hand is pretty damn impressive. You can’t skip arm day if you want to get that right.

I love seeing all of their faces when she kills the lobster!

I have had directors of my fields of education like her tell me I don’t have what it takes to succeed in the subject, only to respond angrily when I do. Why are there people in the world like that??

The men in the advance class are happy for Julia, while Madame Brass wants Julia to fail. Talk about women putting down other women down.

When I was in cooking school, we had to pick out our own lobster and name them...
...promptly before dropping them in boiling hot water and killing them. I think I named mine Larry.

A lot of people wish that this movie was just about Julia, and while I personally like the Julie & Julia format because it makes the movie very unique, I do find myself liking the Julia scenes more. Streep's acting is always impeccable, and it's also so delightful to watch! I still do like the Julie scenes, and Powell is also a great actress.

If you think French are snobby, wait until you meet Quebecois.

I though this movie would have been so much better if it just focused on the story of Julia Child, it was the part that I found really interesting. The Julie Powell bits just felt a out of place. It was like they had squeezed two movies into one, and only one was worth watching.
