Julie Powell, whose attempt to cook through Julia Child's recipes became the 2009 film 'Julie & Julia' starring Amy Adams and Meryl Streep, has died. She was 49 years old. Powell's husband, Eric, confirmed the news to 'The New York Times.'

Sincere condolences to her family. When are the authorities going to start seriously looking into the sheer numbers of these kinds of deaths that are occurring worldwide? This is something that needs to be taken seriously now, not ignored and airbrushed out of our consciousnesses.
