This scene hits harder now that we’ve seen the song’s significance in episode 4. I love how the camera zooms into El and then transitions to zooming out from Max; it shows a lovely parallel of how they both are struggling so much and how much they need each other. El probably would’ve gotten Max to open up and perhaps Max could’ve taught El how to stand up for herself (with words, not powers). I’m hoping so hard these two can reunite before the duffer brothers have a chance to kill either one of them 🙃

this scene broke me because not only can you tell Max is still mourning over Billy, but you also see how much has changed; including her relationship w/ Lucas, who she was closest to. she just seems so…. alone. 😟

Regardless of the time period, everyone has experienced walking down the hallway listening to a song that just captures what you are going through. That is what makes this scene so powerful for me at least. I was a Freshman in 2010 and my Kate Bush song I listened to on repeat on my iPod shuffle was Sweet Disposition.

I feel like if Max and El would’ve still been together in the same place, Max wouldn’t have gotten so depressed. She didn’t just lose Billy at the end of Season 3. When the Byers moved, she lost her closest female friend too.

I first heard Kate Bush at my college radio station in the late 80s/early 90s. We got her to record a station ID! There was so much great music you only heard on college radio!
