Honor, courage, and commitment are the core values instilled in every Marine, and it is these defining values that allow us to fight and win every battle.

About the United States Marine Corps:

The Marine Corps defends the people of the United States at home and abroad. Within every Marine is the willingness to engage and determination to defeat any adversary, and it is this fighting spirit that allows us to fight and win our Nation’s battles.

The mission of the United States Marine Corps is made up of three promises: We make Marines, we win our Nation’s battles, and we develop quality citizens prepared to fight and win battles.

You don’t join the Marines—you become one, forged in the crucible of training aboard our recruit depots on Parris Island, South Carolina, and in San Diego, California, or through the dedication required of officer candidates at Officer Candidates School in Quantico, Virginia. Beyond the physical requirements, aspiring Marines must prove they have the honor, courage, and commitment to face and defeat any obstacle.

Today, more than 180,000 enlisted Marines and 23,000 Marine Officers serve in active duty or reserve forces on bases and in communities around the world, proudly carrying with them the core values of the Marine Corps.

Not a single word was said but it spoke to me more than that excuse for an army ad

Hey everyone... I am the co-creator and Editor of this Marines Commercial. It's amazing to read all the comments on here and to see how this ad has touched, moved, and inspired so many people. When I was approached to do this (2002-2003) I really wanted this spot to say something - I wanted it to capture the human spirit of our brave men and women in The Marines. I knew music had to be key. I edited together my own customized temp track from an array of different music cues. Once the ad agency loved what I did - we then commissioned music composer James Dooley to take my temp track and crush it to the next level.. and boy, did he succeed!. There's so much more that went into constructing this commercial, like copy color, etc... but maybe I'll write about that in my book someday...?? I really do appreciate all the love this ad has received over the past many years. dB

The greatest Marine Corps commercial I’ve ever seen. I remember when this aired. I was on the USS Bonhomme Richard. No words needed. I would re-join today if I could because of this commercial.

Remember watching this daily in weeks leading up to recruit training. The recruiter had copy on CD. I am thankful for every moment in service. Thanks be to all those who serve and protect our livelihoods.

Bring back memories while watching late tv while my wife and two sons were sleeping (they were 10 & 9 years old) not knowing they both would join the military, one marine the other air force. So proud of them.

I first watched this ad around 2002-2003 when I was around 6yrs old and still remembered 9/11 happening. This commercial and “they storm beaches and freed countries” ads had always inspired me to enlist and chase my dreams. I barely went to MCRD San Diego at 27 years old, in 2023. Got Med drop but I’m going back in 3 months.

I'm only 14, but I want to be part of the Marine Corps as an Officer. Counting each day waiting for my day to come. Thank you for your service Marines! Semper Fidelis.

A lot of Marines have been asking about the background music, which I think it's AWESOME!!) Anyway...This is what one Marine (unknown name) mentioned: When this video came out I was very curious as well. I contacted HQMC, Recruiting Division and they told me that the song was written exclusively for this commercial. Semper Fi to that Marine!

Not one man or woman in this video was drafted into the Corps. Every one of them volunteered. Many of these young men and women volunteered after America was attacked by Al Qaeda terrorists on 11 SEP 2001, knowing they most certainly would be sent into harm's way. It takes a special upbringing, sense of duty, and love of our country to do such a thing. Semper Fidelis. 🇺🇸 USMC

This ad stops me cold in my tracks every time. I reflect on how proud I am of the men in my family who have served in every branch of the military. Well done Marines!

Can't stop watching this commercial. My 14 year old son wants to be a Marine. He is dedicated to the Corps and what she stands for. He has the heart of a lion and the fortitude to get it done. He PT's with the Marines here in town. I can't wait for the day he graduates from recruit training. Go son! Love, Dad

I'm on my way to basic training for the Army. I must admit this, the marines make the best commercials! I love this one in particular!
