U.S. Marine Corps Commercial: Anthem :72 (Public Service Announcement)

With a legacy of battles won, the Marines have consistently been ready when our Nation was least ready, demonstrating a tradition of fighting and winning, always with a willingness to engage and determination to defeat any enemy. Their victories and achievements, in both war and peace, on and off the battlefield, have created significant moments in history for our Nation.

Anthem illustrates the historic battles Marines have fought and won, including:

• Belleau Wood – After 20 days of intense fighting during the German Spring Offensive of WWI near the Marne River in France, Marines secured victory and—according to legend—earned the nickname “Teufel Hunden” or “devil dogs.”

• Montford Point – The Montford Point Marines achieved victory at home when in 1942 President Roosevelt established a directive to allow African American men to fight for the Marine Corps; on the field they helped to win battles and changed the face of the Marine Corps.

• Iwo Jima – Amidst some of the fiercest and bloodiest fighting of the War in the Pacific of WWII, Marines captured the Japanese island of Iwo Jima during a five-week battle.

• Recruit Training – In successfully completing recruit training, Marines win the ultimate battles over self-doubt.

About the United States Marine Corps:

The Marine Corps defends the people of the United States at home and abroad. Within every Marine is the willingness to engage and determination to defeat any adversary, and it is this fighting spirit that allows us to fight and win our Nation’s battles.

The mission of the United States Marine Corps is made up of three promises: We make Marines, we win our Nation’s battles, and we develop quality citizens prepared to fight and win battles.

You don’t join the Marines—you become one, forged in the crucible of training aboard our recruit depots on Parris Island, South Carolina, and in San Diego, California, or through the dedication required of officer candidates at Officer Candidates School in Quantico, Virginia. Beyond the physical requirements, aspiring Marines must prove they have the honor, courage, and commitment to face and defeat any obstacle.

Today, more than 180,000 enlisted Marines and 23,000 Marine Officers serve in active duty or reserve forces on bases and in communities around the world, proudly carrying with them the core values of the Marine Corps.

I think the army is going to have to watch this video several times to make a real recruitment animation that inspires, not just because of having two mothers...

As a former Marine I would still grab an M16 and knap sack and head into battle. I'm 40 now and it never leaves your soul. The change is forever

Great piece, but never forget: When the bullets fly, people die. It's not all glory; there is no glory in war. Godspeed to all deploying. Semper Fidelis.

As a Soldier, I have always like the commercials of the Corps. Everyone I've met so far is deeply rooted in three basic things. Tradition. History. Heritage. There's a reason they are the Few and the Proud. And I'm glad they're on our side 😂🇺🇸 see you on the flip side, you devil dogs

The announcer for the Marines commercial should be memorialized when he passes away. His voice was the voice of the corps for decades and I feel sad knowing one day he will no longer able to speak in our commercial.

Makes me damn proud to be a Marine veteran. Served my 8 years in the Corps and fought in Vietnam. I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat... Semper Fi brothers.

Fun fact: the entire statue is actually real complete with all the small details. You can find it at the USMC Museum in Quantico, Virginia

I was in the Marine infantry, but i am in the national guard as an assistant recruiter now. It is hard when people say they want to join the Marines, to convince them otherwise. I always tell them, “If you want the military experience join the Marines, if you want a career join the National Guard”. Because honestly, becoming a Marine is exactly what you have heard. Its like nothing you have ever experienced and no other branch can guarantee you.

FYI here in Europe we call Marines every branch of US Military, even in the news. Army, Navy, Air Force, they are all "Marines" for us. Because Marines are iconic USA military personnel, period.
