I think you're being a bit tough on the Police, Geoff. Yeah they could investigate car crime but what if they need to arrest an autistic teenage girl and there's only 5 of them available? Or have to go to Laurence Fox's house while he's having his tea and only 5 officers are free? What if he goes for them with a macaroon? You want that on your conscience? I had a 1991 Fiesta back in 2002, It was stolen. I called the Police to Report it, they said it had already been reported as stolen 2 years earlier 😅!

reason for decrease in range rover thefts, thieves cant afford to insure them!!

Of course there are fewer Land Rover thefts, there are fewer of them left to steal! 😂

I'm baffled as to how many range rover models get stolen when most of them are in dealer and garage workshops being repaired cos they're broken! 😂

Fiesta's are in the top 10 because the last models of the Fiestas gained the same keyless entry system as the Range Rover, so they are a easy target, they get cloned and stripped for parts, same story with the Focus using the same keyless entry

even though if you talk to the dvla or vosa they'll tell you "ringing" doesn't exist now

Keyless car theft - THE MANUFACTRER SHOULD BE LIABLE FOR AT LEAST 50% OF THE CLAIM, instead of punishing other responsible motor insurers with increased premiums!

Speaking to an insurance company about car alarms and immobilisers, the representative I spoke to said that by far the best deterent was a Disklok. I can believe it, it's a hefty beast and looks like it might take a little while to remove quietly. I had one and returned it for a regular stop lok because it was hard enough to remove a disklok quickly and quietly, even with the key.

Be interesting to see stats on golf focus and fiesta to see what model was stolen if the major portion was
Golf R Ford ST or RS models

Bit harsh on the C Class there! It's a fantastic car - even if you believe it's 'not as good' as a 3 series. I'd have one in estate guise. My dad has an S213 E class and it's lovely to drive and be in.

Some people have mentioned to me that they don't want security tightened up over remote thefts because they fear the thieves will now start to break into the house at night to steal the actual keys and that could lead to confrontation and threats to the family to hand them over.

It’s obvious that if a car is popular (fiesta, focus) and sell in their millions they are going to be stolen in big quantities it’s the laws of averages! and to say it’s because the manufacturer has discontinued those model is absurd you will be able to get parts for those cars off the shelf for decades to come!
