I saved about $25k from the pandemic until now. Didn't spend the stimulus money, saved tax returns, started saving $750 to 1000 every month. On my way to $50k liquid.

My tax accountant gave me a good savings chart. Start with $4 and every week add another $4 dollars to it. Ex. 4, 8 12 etc. When the year is over, you should have $5512 which is not bad to save. It may not be 10k, but its half and a good goal to aim for.

I started with small savings challenges then worked my way up. Saved my first 10k in 2022. Then I thought, why not see if I can do it again and ended up doing 14k last year putting me at 24k so far. Then I have another acct with $1200 at another bank for a small car emergency. It was a lot of having an eagle eye on my budget and making sure I wasn’t doing a lot of mindless spending. Also picking up a side hustle helped.

For 2023, my goal was 10K. Never had savings before. I grinded! Paid off cc debt and a collection. Read books and watched programs. Got real inspired. Bought a budget book to track my expenses. Took advice and opened two HYSA’s (one for emergency fund - 10K, the other for travel). Automated 20% of my biweekly pay to my e fund. Reached 10K by the end of Aug. Had to use some funds in Nov but paid myself back when I got a bonus and ended the year with $14K! Proud of myself is an understatement. I also automated $100 of my “fun money” into my travel fund and started other challenges like saving change and 100 envelopes (fell off but will complete this year). Now my plan is to reach 20K so I can redirect those funds into travel and investing. It takes work and focus! You can do it!

So many of you saying “I don’t have $833 extra a month”. The man is just giving a guideline and using 10K as an example. The point of this video is providing advice on how you can save something and make it grow. It’s all about budgeting, planning and discipline. If you can’t do 10K, that’s fine and understandable. Set a more reasonable goal. I bet if you actually sit down and figure out your spending to see where you can make adjustments, you will realize you can save something and start making it work for you. Also, AUTOMATE THE FUNDS. It will make the process easier.

My new year resolution is to pay off the last bit of my mortgage in 2 years, rather than 5 years. I need £100 per week. So, no new clothes, magazines, flowers, birthday cards and gifts, meals out, coffee shop, take aways or alcohol. I'm only going to spend £20 week on food. I'll be mortgage free New Years Day 2025.

I have two mason jars. One I stuff my $1 bills in and the other my $5’s. I pay all my mandatory bills on line. I then pull out $400 cash for two weeks. That’s my gas, groceries and miscellaneous spending. What I have left over from the cash in ones and fives go in my jars. When I have 10s and 20s left I just take less out the next paycheck. At the end of the year I cash in all my 1’s and 5’s and put in my high yeild savings.
