Spanakopita | Greek Spinach and Feta Cheese Pie

Spanakopita - spinach and feta cheese pie - is a Greek classic. It's made with filo pastry and in this video I attempt to make my own. Be warned, it doesn't go well. Spanakopita is easy to make if you buy the filo pastry.

I can honestly say I’ve never seen anyone attempt to make their own filo before.

Keef, I think you did a great job of attempting filo dough. You keep adding reasons for me to justify buying a pasta roller for my mixer. (The 1st was rolling out pie dough.)
I like the bulgur wheat addition, I'll definitely have to try it.
Recipe suggestion: Irish dingle.

I think it looks awesome! Phylo dough is hard to work with. I can't imagine trying to make it. I'm way too lazy for that! Thanks for posting this!

Courageous try, Keef, but the supermarket, the natural home of filo pastry, a cooking lesson well learned! I saw a Greek pie cooked once where it was topped with a whole heap of loosely screwed balls of filo about 30mm - lots of edges to brown and then crunch as it was eaten - might have been that dude with the fish restaurants up on Port Stevens and down at Ulladulla, and a branch somewhere in England, Padstow, I think!
Great to see the missus back, if only for one taste! An independent palate.

Hahaha I did laugh when you bashed your egg a bit too hard but it worked didn’t it 😃 I do like spanakopita and attempting filo was very courageous and sounded crunchy too ….opaaaah 👍🏼
