An Easy and Tasty Snack - Greek Spinach and Feta Pie (Spanakopita)

An Easy and Tasty Snack - Greek Spinach and Feta Pie (Spanakopita). The title explains everything. Actually, I love spanakopita, but I don't like the ones you buy in the grocery store. They are frozen and simply loose something when cooked. Not to mention that you never know what's in processed food. So, I decided to make my own spanakopita, and I certainly wasn't disappointed. You can make them quickly and easily and they are so good. If you looking for a snack or crowd pleaser for your guests, this recipe is for you.

Dave, I love your channel. Try putting the spinach in the microwave until the desired softness with no mess next time, in order to keep more of the spinach flavors and add all the nutrients to your pie instead of blanching it in boiling water. I love the idea of using pillow dough aka filo dough which has only 6 grams of fat per 100 grams of pie (as opposed to pie shortening which has around 36 grams of fat for every 100 grams of pie). A blend of both feta and cream cheese might be good too. Just my humble take on your wonderful recipe.😊

Looks delish!! Dave... Thanks again... I do have to say, this looked easy to make. Something which accentuates the idea of the channel.

Your version looks great. 👍👍 Being greek I also add green onions and fresh dill instead of dried to the filling which gives it an awesome flavour. Feta is the only cheese that should be used in spanakopita!

Dave my friend, 1 of my very fave foods, think the girls will like it, they will eat about any greens, very nice job, I had some Greek friends yrs ago & their father passed away & they moved( I think back to Greece or Macedonia), for folks who have never had this it is great & the fresh spinach does not taste like canned spinach( canned spinach won't work on this recipe anyway folks). Dave, btw I learned a little Greek from my friends, they pronounce it filo dough( feel-low), spell it in English Phyllo dough, keep your stick on the ice pal

It is always fascinating how many similarities greek and turkish cuisine can have. The dish you showed is similar to a turkisch dish called 'Börek'. It has the same filling but mostly rolled and made with a dough called 'Yufka'
