Scheduled backups with Proxmox Part 2: How to backup virtual machines to a NAS using NFS

In this video, we teach you how to set up a scheduled backup of virtual machines on a Proxmox host to a network attached storage device using NFS. We use an old Buffalo NAS but for production you will want to use something like Freenas. One of the common issues with backups is cleaning up old backups. With Proxmox it is easy to set the number of back-ups you want to keep. During the scheduled backup run it will remove old backups and keep only the number you specified for the backup location. It is also easy to select all or some virtual machines you want to backup.

1 question : is it possible to use a Lacie Wireless Space network disk with a 4 tb nas hard disk formatted in Ntfs (only ntfs, exfat and hfs+ supported) as destination to save proxmox backup and also as source for a plex ct running in proxmox or also as destination to a download station running also in a ct, for example trasmissione... The Lacie Wireless Space support NFS. Thank you for the answer, is good even only a tip so that I can search deeper and learn how to do this thing. If it is not an elegant solution I will buy a real nas later.

Appreciate the info. I'm new to VM's in general, so bear with me.
Can you create 1 "whole" backup of the DataCenter which in my case, has only 1 node, and houses the VM's. to a windows external network storage device. Does if have to NFS as in your video.
And then, of course, if the hole machine pukes, I have this backup either on a NFS box like yours, or my windows share device, how does one go about "restoring" the whole DataCenter. I'm running Virtual Environment 5.4-3
