'Desecrated by Donald Trump': Widow of former marine calls out Trump’s Arlington photo-op

Gold Star widow and Marine veteran Kait Wyatt calls out Donald Trump’s “inappropriate” photo op at Arlington National Cemetery this week, which occurred four years after Trump pulled off a similar stunt near her husband’s grave. “Arlington National Cemetery is a visible reminder of the dead who made this country possible… It shouldn’t have to be explained that this is not an opportunity for a photo op,” she tells Velshi. She also calls out Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, a former marine, for not standing up to Trump. “I’m demanding accountability from Corporal Vance on how this egregious trespassing on sacred ground, how it can be worth your integrity to work for a man like that.”

Every American should make a pilgrimage to Arlington just to feel the solemnity of beholding the sanctity of sacrifice given. My uncle Stephen, a sergeant major who faithfully served this great country during Vietnam, is interred there. Every time my family and I go there, I am deeply humbled by the energy that seethe up from the earth into my heart and soul. Thank you, Uncle Steve and all the others who served!

I visited ANC as a child to see the grave of my great uncle. A fighter pilot in ww2 that was shot down. As a CHILD, I understood the need for respect in a cemetery. Especially one of thousands of veterans.
