The Russian dictator must understand that Ukraine 🇺🇦 is not Georgia, nor Chechnya, nor Syria. He may finally have met his Waterloo in the Ukrainian theatre.

My biggest disappointment is the Russian people themselves not coming out in mass protests. Yes I know that is risky but they are the only ones who can really get rid of their mad man and possibly save a lot of lives on both sides.

I'm seeing the same scenes I saw the months before the USSR collapsed. It began slowly, like now, then more and more people opposed on the streets, local governments started opposing the central regime, and some republics started opening their frontiers sooner than others to let the fleeing people cross the borders to the West. We may be witnessing the beginning of the end of the Russian regime and possibly also of the Russian Federation as it is now. I may be wrong but something whispers to me I'm not.

Russia giving up any claims to Crimea should be the starting point for reparations to Ukraine.

I never would have imagined that Ukraine would survive the first week of the invasion. Even when it did, I certainly never would have imagined the possibility of retaking Crimea! Now I’m not so sure. I doubt they can do it this year (before winter), but I do honestly think Ukraine has a decent chance of taking it back…

The sad irony is that no one threatened Russia. This is a disaster of its own making!

There is one thing that Putin never saw coming, and there is absolutely no way to counter it: Ukraine has made it infinitely easier for Russian troops to surrender than to fight.

The complaints aren't about the war; they're about losing the war. The Russian people were sold an easy-to-win war and now that they are confronted with a hard war that they're losing, they're losing confidence in the Kremlin and more specifically the MoD (due to scapegoating Shoigu.)

Another factor that no one seems to be talking about is that Ukraine is not the only country on Russia's border. Russia has a very long land border with very many countries, and the primary function of the Russian army is to patrol or to be available to protect that border. It has never been an option for Russia to commit the whole of its army to Ukraine, and this must be a serious security concern in Moscow.

Putin should read Tolstoy's parable "How Much Land Does a Man Need."

All the few russian criticisms that are allowed to be heard are about the inefficacy of the troops - there seems to be NOTHING mentioned about the cruelty of compelling involuntary, unfit and untrained callow conscripts to be sent to the slaughter, instead of making a useful contribution to their own family's well-being and happiness and their own long and healthy lives.

In fact, Vladimir Putin’s life should had been the only one lost in this brutal war in which thousands of Russian soldiers, and Ukrainian soldiers, plus Ukrainian civilians lives have been sacrificed 🪡

You need middle aged men, and older, to repair vehicles from the cold war period. If they can remember how, if they have the spares, the special tools. If they aren't too creaky. If they don't desert. A whole lot of iffs.

At last, critics in Moscow, about time, took long enough.
