The Collapse of the Russian Army

The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues to shape the global landscape. U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell recently asserted that Russia has almost fully reconstituted its military power, largely thanks to Chinese support. This claim, however, contradicts many Western assessments that suggest Russia's military is weakening. In this video, we explore both perspectives and delve into the evidence behind each claim. Is Russia truly rebuilding its strength, or is its military on the brink of collapse? Join us as we examine the factors at play, from manpower issues to equipment shortages, and what they mean for the future of this conflict.

I’m just a layperson, but one thing about Russia stands out to me. It seems to me that Putin fragmented their military, security, and border departments and pitted them against each other. This made it far more difficult to mount a coup against himself, but also left the nation unable to quickly and effectively mobilize during a crisis.

The different pieces do not talk to each other - they cannot talk to each other. Maybe the intelligence agencies saw the Ukrainian military gathering near the border, but they either didn’t tell the military or the military was unable to quickly deploy any troops as a counter measure.

Next to the nimble and effective Ukrainians, Russia looks like a not very smart lumbering giant with slow reflexes.

Every 'mercenary', values their life, more than money at some stage. I think Russia is fast approaching that postion...

Whatever happens, Win or lose, Russia will be feeling the effects of this war for a long time.

Russia's population is most definitely NOT 141 million people. When are statisticians and analysts going to realise that most figures given by Rosstat are false?

There's a very good reason to know for sure that Russia overestimates its own population: any Russian citizen who lives abroad, even if it has been several decades, is counted as living in Russia unless he or she specifically asks to stop being registered as such. Most people don't do that because it's a bother and it can lead to complications when they're back in Russia to visit family.

The most conservative figures for the Russian diaspora count 15 millions Russians living abroad. Serious Russian demographs gave figures between 130 and 135 million people, and that was before the military mobilisation that made between 1 and 1.5 million Russians leave the country.

If the numbers are to be believed, Russia has lost more troops in 2 years than it did in Afghanistan, a 9 year war. Mind you, this was the U.S.S.R., so it could conscript soldiers from all over the Eastern bloc and Central Asia. Given that Russia's drastic populations decline prior to the war on top of the rapid escape of Russian citizens during the war. The outcome of this war in terms of population fluctuations may be worse than WW2

This is why war is a ludicrous undertaking. Unless a war can be won in weeks or days, rather than years, every war fought in the last few centuries has been battles of attrition. With the victor being the army that suffered the least attrition of manpower or military equipment. The only other effect on warfare has been historically the loss of the will to continue fighting. Russia had a resource advantage in its battle against Ukraine. But, the loss of Russia’s most experienced soldiers and its most modern equipment, before the war could be won, has resulted in the three-day “special military operation” has been stretched out for two and a half years. The Nazis in World War Two, Alexander the Great’s and Napoleon’s conquests were ended by lasting for too long to logistically supporting the fighting. Russia in 2024 is now risking defeat in a similar way.

Based on the news I can access, it appears that Ukraine’s new advance into Kursk and the new drones shipped from Lithuania and the rocket drones made in Ukraine will have an negative impact on Russian popular opinion about the war entering their borders.

Putin’s replacement for head of military is an economist and not a military expert emphasizes his motivation to hire contract soldiers. But, the old mothballed equipment now being used on the front lines and the higher proportion of under-trained soldiers suggests the difficulty of advancing into Ukraine.

These conditions MAY embolden NATO to employ more support for Ukraine. Interestingly, Biden’s reaction to building a buffer zone in Kursk, was that it made common sense. This may be the encouragement NATO countries need to step up equipment, ammo, and soldiers into Ukraine. Finally, the Russian soldiers being relocated from Kaliningrad poses a conflict with its neighbors, as the road to Ukraine goes through their countries, so is a key issue to watch.

This channel is so polished. Each thing they know is a piece of candy. And they mix the bowl for each video and old candy reappear. But it is still tasty so your are satisfied.
Edit: about the video the "get lost" effort is a drop in the ocean. What makes us happy is smart Russians just leaving the country long before. I am wondering where they go to find a safe crossing and not get caught in the net. "get lost" I think I heard do complicated things like helping Russian soldiers on the actual front line among the trees and synchronize with Ukraine army. Or am I wrong/dreaming?

46 million "people" fit for military service. Cut that in half. 50% of the population is female. Russia doesn't have woman armies. Then factor in running the country. Canada has more people than that and we don't have as much territory to cover. That means Russia has maybe a million more across all arms of the forces.

I mean just looking at the fact that in all this time; such a massive army utterly failed to conquer a nation, whose gdp was comparable to a country like El Salvador at the time the war began, tells you everything about the quality of Russia’s army.

Russia is in a stalemate with Ukraine. And it's the second most powerful military in the world? That's absurd.

What this video didn't even mention is the financial cost, Russia was a cash rich country, now it is not, and not bringing in anything like the money it used to. If you cannot entice new recruits because of the stories about prior soldiers not being paid, you are in trouble. I suspect the Russian people are saying 'Нет' and I wouldn't be surprised if some of Russia's cohorts have not said it to a few of his requests.
