Greenpeace activists put black fabric on Rishi Sunak's mansion in oil protest

The climbers managed to get on top of Sunak's constituency home in Kirby Sigston as the PM flew to California on holiday. After reaching the top of the building using ladders and climbing ropes, they unfolded 200 sq metres of fabric to cover one side of the property. Last week, Sunak pledged to 'max out' the UK's oil and gas reserves as he announced 100 new licences for North Sea drilling, which experts say could be catastrophic for the climate.

They could have cleaned out the gutters while they were up there.

With the security protection the PM has how did they get up there without being arrested, detained or deterred? Seems odd to me

All the comments about security around his home. This is his house in North Yorkshire. The one that lays empty for months on end that he has probably forgot about.. while he lives in his £7 million 5 bedroom house in London.. He will only stay in Yorkshire for inspiration to write up policies to tackle homelessness between visits to his £5.5 million penthouse in Santa Monica and his apartment in London

If they can achieve this, I bet the Russians have bugs in every room!

This would be aggravated trespass, they should be in jail.

I suspect however they had full permission to be there.

Clearly been allowed to do this. Looks about as spontaneous as anything else being done to us.

Excellent. Multimillionaire with 5 "homes" lectures the rest of us on how we have to tighten our belts. Grants licences to an industry that - what a coincidence! - his family has financial interests in. Draping some black fabric over one of his mansions for a couple of hours is a *very* moderate protest

Yes let's trespass on someone's privacy property. Smart.

I guarantee the only migrants in that village are those that live in Rishi's house.

Well done
Sunak and the elites yet another Hypocritical policy
Don’t use your cat, but we can fly around in private jets.
Use only renewable energy but he’s thousands of licenses for sale to drill for fossil fuel, make sure I get a seat on the energy board, when leaving politics.
Johnson, Intensive care unit ( I don’t believe you)one week suddenly several weeks later it’s party time at Downing Street.

Not exactly the kind of "Mansion" I expected really. There are Software Developers out there with much bigger houses than that.

I wonder if Greenpeace will also protest at billionaire Sunak's mansions in California and New York - I'm having trouble paying my mortgage and saving to buy food.

I have been burgled 7 times now because of his policies. Whilst I do not agree with what Greenpeace have done I am enjoying the lack of police around his house. At least he has some idea of what the rest of us are putting up with. Not one person has been prosecuted for any of the incidents at my house.
