As house said in a later season....
He chose to have a barely functioning limb that causes him constant pain, instead of a simple prosthetic that would have given him more mobility. He lost objectivity because he was scared, and paid for the rest of his life.

Shout out to the actress playing Stacey - she has the PERFECT face for that “I love you, I’m worried about you, but also super frustrated and pissed off that you’re being such an idiot”

And then pair this with the episode where House has to convince a patient to agree to amputation but she dies anyways, and we watch his whole world fall apart as he finally breaks down. Man this show is good.

I like how the lecture hall was almost empty at the start and later on, its filled with students & doctors. Just to show that many people are curious about his leg.

Man, House must've felt so betrayed by medicine. To not find out the problem at first and end up losing full usage of his leg. Only thing worse is Wilson dying of cancer.

This was such a genius episode, so cleverly written. It kept the class and the viewers on edge right to the end all while explaining what happened to House in his own words in an entertaining way and not like he was reading off a script. Absolutely brilliant, I think it may actually be my favourite episode of the whole show, bar maybe the Amber one and the bus ride, or House at the mental facility

He’s definitely right about one thing. If you indicate you’re remotely ok with the idea of your limb being removed, the surgeons will immediately start pulling out bone saws

let's acknowledge how much of a legend house is for diagnosing himself about 20 seconds before tachycardia

This gives a new meaning to why Cuddy employed House and did not fire him even when he was unbearable.
She felt guilty. They made a mistake and this guy lost the full use of his leg, his job, hobby, his wife… basically his life. He lived in pain because of them.
And no one wanted him anymore.
She wanted to make it right but knew she never could. So she suffered every idiocy of his because she felt she had no right to punish him or send him away after what they have done to him.
I think House knows this too and that’s why he doesen’t bring it up all the time. (And the trauma of course.) He knows he is a jerk and it’s hard to live with him.
In my opinion he is grateful for what Cuddy does for him. He might not even be angry with her anymore (at least in the leater seasons). He is just a brilliant doctor in pain who is angry at the world for existing.

I wish he would come back with another season dr. House. It is thanks to this series that I started to love medicine
