JBugs - Father & Son - 1972 VW Baja Bug - 3x3 Trailing Arm Camber Fix & AC Hard Lines

Now that most of the tear down on Nathan's 1972 Baja Bug is complete, the father-son team begins to prep the chassis for air conditioning by running the pressure lines through the tunnel. Now, we aren't AC experts, and we've never done this before so we'll see how it comes out! Then Sam and Nate tackle something that has bothered the duo since they were first bolted on... the positive camber on the aftermarket 3x3 trailing arms. So after accessing the situation, they decide to cut off the inner pivot, square the axles up to the chassis and re-weld the pivots in so that the rear tires sit in a much more appropriate position. This first seemed like a fairly daunting task but it ended up being pretty easy, all things considered!

Showing running your AC lines was helpful for me, thanks, I want to run AC in mine too. Nice problem solving and getting your measurements right on your trailing arms. I felt like I spent hours on my A-arms trying to make sure they were correct on my bug. Always better to take your time and get it right to begin with. Keep up the good work guy!

I have really been enjoying this series! Do you prefer the early Super Beetle to the regular classic Beetle? I got to have the flat windshield though...
I am going to be purchasing a beetle soon to do a full restore / modification and preservation for use down in Panama. I figure, if they've lasted this long, with a full restore, it should last the rest of my life down there in the beautiful cool mountains. With a few spare parts and such of course.
I'm just torn a little between which years to buy.
Thanks!

How did you determine that the angles are not right without the completed car resting on the ground?

While you have it apart, why don't you install a rear torsion adjuster?
