His parents completely neglected him. He should have been in therapy, but they were both too selfish. I blame them for the way he turned out. It could have all been prevented.
The only one I think truly cared about him was his grandmother.

I honestly would not blame the parents. A lot of people have had bad upbringing and don't end up like this man's son. I cannot even imagine the emotional pain that his mother and father have suffered.

What bothers me is the distance that this pseudo-father wants to put between his son and himself. He is a cold being, no questioning, this in no way excuses what his son did, but the genes of total indifference shine through in his attitude. I am not my son. Certainly not, but the rejection he shows is even worse...

From what it sounds like to me is Jeff was extremely neglected. It just seems like a sad story no matter how you look at it I feel bad for everyone. But I honestly put the blame on the parents.

In the series on Netflix (in the series)his father admitted he too had the same thoughts. and both parents chose not to let them to run testing on his brain when he passed to understand his brain. his mother had mental illness as well. so the series protray. not sure how true it is. just going by what was in the series. so this has me confused 😕

The link he makes between sexuality and violence during puberty actually makes a lot of sense for sexually driven serial killers. I'm not sure about serial killers who aren't sexually driven. But there does seem to be a connection there.
