When I had my wisdom teeth out, my dogs rotated shifts with me. One would be out in the house getting water or going outside, one would be guarding my door, and one would be cuddling me. WITHOUT FAIL. Keep in mind, two were labradors and one was a basset hound. I have no idea why they thought I needed a guard posted up by the door, but it was both strange and really amazing knowing that my chaos gremlins cared so much about me that they could keep me comfy. I went over to a friend’s house that same week I was recovering and their cat, who usually did not like being held, let me pick her up and cuddled with me. Even if you aren’t their person, animals are so intuitive towards others. It’s amazing.

If is wasn't for my cats, I would have been dead a few years ago. I had major depression and was in a dark place in my life. Taking care of them and worrying what would happen to them pulled me out of my darkness. So yes, they do know.

My, now 17yr old, ESA cat has told me when my thyroid was off by laying across my neck. Last year, he also kept me awake (against the will of my sedating muscle relaxers) 3 hrs until I had the stereotypical heart attack symptoms. I had heard burn symptoms for a week prior, which my Dr & I both thought was just due to having some different foods than normal at my bday party. I don't think I would have been able to react & identify the heart attack nearly as quickly, possibly not fast enough, if he hadn't kept me awake. He normally sleeps under the covers hugging my knees/calves, so I'm certain he is familiar with the normal sounds of my heart & noticed the change. It literally saved my life to let my cat sleep in my bed!

My boy knew when I had cancer before I did. He became obsessed with how my breath smelled. He would sit on my chest, smelling my breath. After I had surgery to remove the offending tumor from my bronchial tube, he stopped obsessing over how my breath smelled. That was nearly 10 years ago. He will be 13 years old in a couple of weeks.

My kitty Weasel (my profile picture) got me through the death of my husband, and many illnesses. He passed away this year, but we have Nyx, who is my emotional support, and Ginger the orange smart-ass. I have a cold and they are both cuddling me this morning.

My cat didn't leave my mom's side during her final days. He rarely cuddled with her before but he spent hours laying on her chest (she had breast cancer). He doesn't like strangers, but every therapist, nurse, doctor, visitor had to move him out of the way. He didn't want to leave her alone.

I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well and hope it passes quickly. There's a video on YouTube about a resident cat in a nursing home that always predicted the death of a patient by sleeping with them the day before they actually passed. Cats know!

You woke up with your babies surrounding you is very impactful to me. They love you so much. My cats are my protectors/guardians overnight. One of my cat wakes me up from nightmares. I am scared when I first wake up for a second, then her purr soothes me. Cats are definitely all knowing creatures.

The first time I ever got fired from a job, I was crying on the couch and my cat immediately wandered over and put her whole, fifteen pound self on my lap. She knew.

I sprained my ankle while out on a business trip (that I still went on despite being on a two week break) and because I got hurt, I was really upset and frustrated the day after and I started crying from the pain and just generally feeling awful, and my cat, my sweet tuxie Zephyr, came up and sat on my chest, nuzzling his head against my cheek/mouth (we call that "giving kisses") and was purring really loud. He's such a little sweetheart, and he stayed with me until I calmed down.

They really do. Every time I’m on my period they come and lay on my tummy and thighs. And their warmth and purrs feel so good when I’m cramping. And that’s the only time they lay directly on my like that. Usually they’re just squished up against me as close as they can lol

I believe this. When mom was alive and goung through dialysis, my cat started spending all her time with her. She mourned after mom died.

My babies r always around me when I am sick or when I have a kidney stone attack, they watch over me and comfort me it's so sweet I love them so much
