this changed my relationship with my natural hair

Long time no see. Back in early October I got my hair colored professionally for the first time, and it was one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself. It completely changed how I view my wash and go lifestyle, and was a key reason why I waited 7 months to post content. Watch to find out more, and stay tuned for how I care for my color and highlights.

Welcome back! 🙂 Your hair looks gorgeous. This is the reason why I love natural hair and natural hair content on You Tube. Natural hair is so versatile and it is a way for us to express ourselves. I've been natural all my life. I started as a straight natural, then I solely wore wash and goes and now (at 39) I do a combination of it all (twist outs, wash and goes and silk presses/blow outs). I mainly do my own hair but I have a stylist that I see 4x a year to make sure I'm doing all the right things. And she's been my stylist for 10+ years. I love that you are still working with the same stylist from before and I look forward to seeing future videos.

The color looks great on you. I was just wrestling with this same issue of protective style vs. wearing my curls. I so agree with you. Glad you are back and hope to hear/see more of your journey.

Brittany I’ve missed you, great to have you back. I don’t worry about split ends, or hiding my hair. God gave me this hair to be my crown and it’s to be seen. Anyway that’s where I am with my hair. Yes trust yourself with the decisions you make for your hair.

In June 2023, I had hair fatigue, so I cut my hair into a fro-hawk with shaved sides with designs, and got it coloured with bleached honey-blond highlights....Yup, I fell right back in love with my hair. in February 2024, I found out I was autistic at age 42 so anything that can simplify my life and not take all my spoons fo the day, week, or month is where I'm looking to go.

Thanks for sharing and being you. I always like natural hair content creators that have a similar texture. It's so important to follow black women who are a reflexion of ourselves, especially our hair texture. Currently, my hair is thriving under wigs. At night, I take off the wig and add water, leave in conditioner, oil my scalp and hair. I get to dentangle every week, wash clean and rebraid, then tuck under my wigs and go about my business. I also get to try new methods of retaining moisture and hydration. I don't have to stress about how it looks daily going to work and stress about growth because it's tucked away for the day. Now it's just flourishing and it's been over a year of doing this after having to cut it because of not taking care of my hair correctly or doing ponytails which was breaking my hair off over time. I totally relate to feeling like I wanted my hair to be a certain length before wearing it out. I felt that way too but now I just want to let it flourish with very little manipulation throughout the week. My hair is getting so long. This works for me and want to encourage others that any method that works go with that. Learn to love your hair and care for it while also changing your look up with wigs, extensions etc. Just make sure you are embracing your natural hair, face, body and skin. GOD created a masterpiece when he created you❤
Ephesians 2:10, which says, "For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago"

Welcome back! I love the color and can't imagine my hair without some sort of fantasy color so I completely agree it completely helps you fall in love with your hair all the more! Can't wait to see you experience your hair journey and how far you've come!

I just found this video and your channel, INSTANT subscriber. ❤ Our journey is so much alike. I feel so heard and seen. I scheduled an apt later this month to get my natural hair trimmed, and am vowing to myself to be a consistent natural girl. I too grew my hair out and “ruined” it countless times due to trying to achieve others standards then resulted to wigs, braids, other protective styles. Which looks great but in my heart and soul, I KNOW I feel my best with my natural hair. It unlocks a little fire in me. Thank you for this video, I think I have the same length as you currently. This is the channel I need in 2025 🥰

I can’t totally relate. I colored my hair last Nov and it made me appreciate my hair so much more. I’m taking a lot better care of it and also just loving the look and feel of it. Kudos to you for finding something that’s brought joy back to your hair journey!
