Pizza Marinara is one of the original pizza types and comes without cheese

Girl trust me, we have pizza without mozzarella in Italy and when is good is good.
In Rome we have different varieties such as broccoli and sausage, marinara(tomato, oregano and garlic), mozzarella and potatoes and much more.

Have none of y’all ever heard of Pizza Marinara?
Some pizze are called “rosse”, which means red, since they only have tomato sauce (and toppings) but no cheese.
And Pizza Marinara is amazing.
It’s still a pizza, not “flatbread with toppings.” That would be a Schiacciata/Focaccia.
You can also have a “bianca”, a white pizza, where you don’t have the tomato sauce but only mozzarella (and of course toppings if you want)

when I went vegan there weren't many options for cheese alternatives so I would drizzle my cheeseless pizzas with a homemade sauce after baking. my favorite was a aoli based sauce with green pesto. always hit the spot for me

I’m lactose intolerant and I typically eat pizza without cheese and, to me, it’s still pizza. I still enjoy it and I absolutely love pizza.

In Florence ( ITALY ) Almost all Pizza(s) are served without cheese except for cheese pizza ( margarita or four cheeses ) .... and Italy is the country of pizza so

Yes. I’ve met actual Italians doing study abroad in high school. My friend’s grandparents were from Sicily and owned a pizza shop when they came from to the U.S.

it is and if it's made correctly, it's delicious! in Italy we call it "pizza rossa" (red pizza) and marinara pizza (one of the classic pizzas) classifies as one

Def, I think the biggest factor that makes pizza pizza is a flat crust with a sauce on it. Is it my vibe, no. I worked at an iconic pizza shop and we made some pizza that purists wouldn’t think of as pizza. I remember one of my favs was a pizza my boss was experimenting on (I don’t think he ever put it on the menu but it was a fav of mine); think crust with garlic butter, then a layer of ricotta, crushed garlic, blk beans sprinkled all over it, topped with fontina & parm. It was glorious. He also made lobster and caviar pizza, clam pizza, and a no cheese pizza that was made with sauce, capers, roasted red peppers, roasted eggplant, potato, roasted zucchini, olives & some other veggies I forgot. It was actually really popular with vegans. I’m a picky vegetarian who loves cheese so I never ate any of those, but ppl loved them.

In Rhode Island Party pizza is a staple and it is quite literally just bread and sauce (served cold!) and it is one of my favorite things ever!

Not that far away from Leavenworth, there is this town called Ellensburg. There is a pizza place called Village Pizza there. They have super good pizza! I would recommend anyone to try it out.

I'm from Upstate New York and lived in Utica for a while and we have something called tomatoe pie and it's good! It's basically pizza with out cheese although there is parmesan sprinkled on top. I really recommend it! Just thinking about it is making my mouth water

I grew up ordering every pizza without cheese because I shared with my brother who was allergic so I’d always consider that pizza and it can still be delicious and unique based on ingredients and quality
