you can't improvise and shred at the same time

All the shredding Guthrie does in the video is improvised. The playing is super clean, the notes are all perfect and most importantly, you don't pay attention to the technique and how exactly he's pulling off those super fast shred parts as the playing is extremely tasteful!
Though I'm mainly a piano player, I take a lot of inspiration from his playing

Guthrie might be the best guitarist alive. His work with Steven Wilson (Hand. Cannot. Erase has some of the best prog guitar work of the last decade) as well as his work with Hanz Zimmer over the last few years is incredible. Not to mention the Aristocrats which has always been amazing.
