Such a horrendous disease. I have great compassion for those who suffer from it and their caregivers. I pray for a cure, or at least better treatment options.

My mother is 89 years old. She was diagnosed with PD 15 year ago. She can still walk approximately 40 ft each morning, assisted by 2 people. Her voice is very low, but she can understand when asked a question. I’m sure that her major need is love and company. She still eats three meals a day, drinks coffee twice and water frequently. There are times when she has difficulty swallowing and that’s very frustrating and sad because when I ask if she wants to eat her food, she says yes, but can’t. If you are caring for a love one, be patient, hug him/ her a lot, rub her body and let him/ her know you are there.

Verily the most necessary thing is contentment under all circumstances; by this one is preserved from morbid
conditions and lassitude. Yield not to grief and sorrow: they cause the greatest misery. Jealousy consumeth
the body and anger doth burn the liver: avoid these two as you would a lion.

this video is rather depressing and i would not recommend it to newly diagnosed patients! We really need some positives on fighting the progression, albeit with exercise, physio, determination and a sense of humour.

There is also misdiagnosis of PD. Often.

I understand that if the doctor suspects Parkinson’s they will give you a drug for Parkinson’s before a definitive diagnosis of that condition. This allows the doctor to see how well one does during this treatment. Thank you for this informative video on the progression of the disease as not all patients will progress the same way due to age of onset and symptoms.

I am here because an old friend of mine now in her early 70s was recently diagnosed with PD and I am trying to learn what to expect and how I may be able to assist her. Thoughts?

Is there a possibility of getting it if a parent has it? If so, is there any thing we can do, besides of course eating healthy and exercising?

Doesn't Parkinsons disease have a metabolic disorder root?

This is what happened to my father. He started shaking. Couldn't speak. Fed through a tube punctured in his abdomen. Died a miserable death. That is the end game. Only one Doctor had the balls to tell us the end game.

I didnt see my dad for many years and I recently met up with him. He has diabetes, parkinsons and dementia. He is 76. he has always been slim but now he is emaciated. He uses a zimmer frame, he takes 20 minutes to go for a pee and then his nappy is left on the floor. He takes 10 minutes to get through the door and 5 minutes to sit down. He hasnt been outside for months. He drawls and has to mop it up with a tissue. He chokes on his cup of tea.
He asks me how the cat is that I had 30 years ago. He lives alone because when he got diagnosed his wife left him because she said she didnt want to be his carer. She was 2o years younger than him but they were together 30 years. He is very bitter about this. My brother and his part time carer said he should go in a home but he dosnt want to. I think he is on the border of stage 4/5.
The other day he was saying that he was going to buy a house and maybe start a business. He said he didnt want to get a cat because it would be a tie, like he is off on a round the world cruise or something. I find this delusional thinking more disturbing than anything else but I just agree with what ever he says.

I had early onset of parkinson's disease symptoms. They all went away after fasting one day per week.

This video was very disappointing, because it copped out at the end.  When planning how to live with a disease, you sometimes need to look squarely at what could be ahead of you.  But you guys only showed what I already know.
The fact that no one will show what comes next is really really scaring the bejaysus out of me.

Clearly this patient is clearly right handed. You need to be clear that it can be the dominant hand (the hand you write with)
