Not the first beetle pattern I`ve seen and probably not the last but an excellent and easy one to create. This will work well over here in England and not just for video and many thanks for sharing it with us.
Tight lines to you all.

That is a great beetle pattern, simple & effective, just the way I like them. That'll be good one for our local panfish.

I just tied this one and the 2.0 version and I have to say that I like this version with the hackle, at least tying it, better than the one with rubber legs. i'm new at this, but I find it easier to get the hackle right than the rubber legs.

For me, yes, they are too long. But some people do tie their buggers with hackle that long. I prefer to use feathers from Whiting Bugger packs as you get lots of smaller feathers and they're a dream to tie with.

Great beetle, I have tied with foam but it is not one of my favorite materials. I just don't like it much. I have to confess, I made a couple of crickets that have been great so I am going to try this beetle. It looks like fun to tie. All the best, Sean

i had another way to make legs cause i don't have any hackels but i used black bear hair and spread them apart and it looks pretty good,
