Fly Tying a Foam Beetle by Mak

Great Pattern for Summer and Autumn
Hook size 12-14 , Thread Black , Body Close Cell Foam with Peacock Herl
Legs Black Spanflex, White Foam used for the Visibility

Thanks for sharing Mak! These beetles are as much fun to tie as they are to fish.

I particularly like to use them in shallow water where the fish are spooky and a subtle presentation the best. No need to "match the hatch" as the beetles are always on the menu.

I'll often fish the beetle as an indicator with an ant on a short dropper just to give the fish the choice. 😁

I've tied em just like that for many years, sometimes black kinky deer hair or peacock crystal flash or soft hen for legs, trout magnet all day long! Thanks Bro!
