We are in the middle of winter here in New Zealand and this pattern has me dreaming of warmer days and trout feeding on the surface. This pattern is pretty straight forward but a good one to start playing with foam if have not before. You can also play with the colors and get some different looks for it to match different species. some green loco foam with brown under body being a good one in NZ to match the Manuka Beetle or browns to match a grass beetle. Different materials can be used underneath as well. I quite like the straggle string or holo-tinsel from Semperfli as well.

Either way I hope you enjoy tying it and it works well for you,

Happy tying.

I like black/peacock ice dubbing for my beetles....the fish seem to enjoy it as well.
