ABOUT THIS VIDEO: I don't use statins to lower LDL cholesterol. I mainly use statins to decrease cardiovascular inflammation. I used to take Crestor 5mg (rosuvastatin) 1x a day. But with a half-life of 17 hours, it's not necessary to take it daily to curb inflammation. Recently, I switched to pitavastatin.

What prompted your change to Pivasta? In earlier presentations you stated that it had not been shown to effect inflammation, has there been new data that shows that it does?
Thank you.

Started a low carb / no process food life a year ago. Was taking a 20mg statin for years. Stopped taking it due to leg muscle pain and low energy. Felt much better. As expected, my cholesterol level and LDL numbers went up. My doctor had a fit over my LDL number. I was not to concerned about my LDL. I was more concerned about my triglyceride / HDL ratio. It was around 7. Plus, I have a high CRP number 21, probably due to my arthritis, but not really sure. So, after my own investigation, and seeing Dr Brewer’s videos on what he recommends for his patient and to keep my doctor calm, I asked for and 5mg of rosuvastatin. Not for my LDL, but to help with my triglyceride/HDL ratio and some lowering of my CRP number.

Took a very low dose of statin 9 months and could not walk for symptoms 8 of those months. Three days after stopping taking them, I stopped have symptoms that had stopped me from walking. 8 months later am still problem free. Indicates that it that much more important that I stay on LCHF and fasting lifestyle.

Do you do consults? how do I know what I need? How do I know what program / book to buy? Have heart disease. High blood pressure, high cholesterol, stents, quad bypass, and kidneys are starting to fail. Hard to find out what to do with heart disease plus severe kidney disease.

Statins gave me diabetes. “It's possible your blood sugar (blood glucose) level may increase when you take a statin, which may lead to developing type 2 diabetes. The risk is small but important enough that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning on statin labels regarding blood glucose levels and diabetes.”

Good info Doc. Right now I am taking 40mg Atorvastatin Calcium every other day (as opposed to daily). I have been on this statin for almost 5 yrs with no adverse effects to date. Next time I see my Cardiologist I am going to request that he switch me to low dose Crestor (5mg/day). I don't think that is going to go over to well but I will give it a try. Thanks again for your fact based 👍👍

My Rosuvastatin came with a paper; the fine print said not the take it with Niacin, which is found in most daily multi-vitamins. FYI

Love your channel! I take Crestor 5mg every other day for the anti inflammatory measure it provides. How often should I have my blood levels checked with regard to inflammatory markers...always want to know if this stuff is working?!

Hello Doc. Listen to your videos all the time. Very informative and interesting. I have a question on your switch from Crestor to primavstatin. You had stated previously it did not have anti- inflammatory effects? Also do you break the 2mg pill in half? Thank you Ted

Great information Doctor Ford. I wanted to know regarding LP(a). Any treatment drugs yet in the market or shall I continue with Turmeric, black pepper, pomegranate, vitamins C and D3 regimen along with Statins and Clopidogrel .
Need to lower my LP(a) as its 69 mg/dl. I don't know if its due to Statins 20mg i take for Triglycerides .
Triglycerides are high 177 mg/ dl after 4 months of Statins and Blood thinning .
