My answer is no.

I'm very disciplined, but i will enjoy life for however long i have on earth. As long as my rent is paid on time and food is always available for my family and i as well as other necessities, I'm incredibly happy.

What about when the housing and living prices are so expensive even after delaying pleasure, you’re still struggling?

I have no debt (even student loan is paid off completely), don’t own a car, don’t own a house, had a very cheap wedding, have 80% of my savings in investments (index funds and stocks), and of course work full time (and earn above annual salary) but I still can’t afford to buy my own house.
When does society, and particularly the people in comfortable situations admit that there’s something wrong with the current state of living costs?

I see it as a pendulum effect. The more you push in one direction, things are gonna come back the other way around with equal force. Delaying pleasure vs Instant gratification are 2 sides of the same pendulum. Delay gratification now so you can have fun later. Have fun now and you might have to work harder when the pendulum swings back.
The one thing to keep in mind is that the pendulum will always come back in the other direction, you choose what side you push it towards, time takes care of the rest.
