This is no doubt the best Lexus RX ever made, but it's also very pricey. Is it worth the money over the #lexusnx 450h? or the #rav4prime ?

RX-First Plug-In Hybrid Powertrain

Powered by a high-capacity lithium-ion battery paired with a 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine (shared with NX), the 2024 RX 450h+ hybrid system has a manufacturer-estimated combined 83 MPGe rating. The system provides luxury performance and consistent acceleration off the line with an estimated 6.2 second 0-60 time. The RX 450h+ has an EPA-estimated 37-mile driving range rating on electric power only.

The RX450h+ comes equipped with a Level 1 vehicle-charging cable for 120V outlets and all models are equipped with a J1772 (Type 1) socket for at-home and public charging. A high-output, high-efficiency system designed to reduce power loss when converting from AC power to DC power results in faster charging times. Using the maximum charging current of 240V and under ideal conditions, the Lexus RX 450h+ can be fully charged in approximately two-and-a-half hours using the standard 6.6 kW Onboard Charger.

The RX 450h+ utilizes an electronically controlled, full-time AWD system for a confident, sporty driving experience, led by Lexus Driving Signature vehicle fundamentals. Optimizing front and rear torque distribution according to the driving conditions, the driver can control the vehicle as preferred throughout varied road conditions and driving styles.

As the first luxury brand to offer a hybrid in the segment, it’s only fitting that RX offers a variety of electrified powertrains. Building on the all-new redesign of the iconic crossover vehicle last year, Lexus adds the much-anticipated plug-in hybrid to the electrified lineup. The 2024 Lexus RX 450h+ offers standard luxury elements, intuitive technology, and thoughtful in-cabin features.

Sorry for the monroney sticker being all wonky in the first 10s. The file rotated in my file folder which affected its position in the render 😢. Sorry!

In the Netherlands tested against Cayenne and LR Sport. The RX was considered the far best build, materials and fit and finish, most economical to, as will as quietest car around. It was not considered as sportive as the Porsche or Landrover however.
Source: Autovisie, well established car magazine in the Netherlands.

I own one and LOVE it!!! In the summer it says that it gets ~72KM=45 MI of electric Range, which in reality is likely 40-42MI. In the Canadian winter it is roughly 45KM=28MI... but that is with the heater running on full constantly. It is exceptionally quiet and smooth. The only thing I wish it had was the GH display behind the steering wheel. The 9" display isn't very customizable and could be improved. The passenger seat has memory for 3 settings also, but oddly, you can't use them while driving... on the driver side, that makes sense, but not on the passenger. If you get the high end Executive Package, it is only a couple grand more than RX350H, atleast that is what it is in Canada with our packaging. After 6 months of ownership, the only time we use Gas is on our 1100 Mile trips. Great Review Kirk!!

Peace of Mind is now the premium you're paying for. The powertrain is bulletproof, and the RX is such a quiet and comfortable car.
I just drove an RX350 home last night from a birthday dinner.

One of my favorite Lexus CUVs. The interior is well laid out and properly premium with wood/bamboo on the dash and nicely designed leather on the doors. Exterior also looks the most modern out of all the Lexus CUVs. Love this car.

RX350h owner here. Jealous of the RX450h and RX500h owners out there. If I could go back in time, I’d still choose my RX350h tho

The Lexus EV direction (all EV by 2030-35) has got to change consistent with consumer demand. Not sure why they made such a decree. Currently drive RX450hL….love the 6 cylinder hybrid. Great review of the 450h+. Thanks Kirk

Very insightful report.
I agree that hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or EV should be the only choices for Lexus...and for everyone else, down the road.
Lexus is a leader, after all.

Great review, and I did look hard at this, but went with the NX450h+ instead, as I just could not get my head around the styling at the front. I also didn’t need the extra space, the NX is plenty roomy for me. And as a bonus mine doesn’t have Mrs. Naggypants moaning at me every 10 seconds to pay attention and keep my eyes on the road😂

I've had my 2023 luxury RX 350h AWD with pretty much every option with the same interior you have here for a little over a year. I love the light interior and the bamboo inlay. It does give good vibes, just very soothing. I laughed when you said that because that interior was a must have for me once I had seen it.

I'm always pondering what changes I'd make to the car, I can't really think of anything. Like would I rather have a bigger engine? No, I mean it's not super powerful but it gets the job done, it's not supposed to be a sports car and living with California gas prices I'd rather just save the money. With the hybrid motor assist it feels as fast as my Kia Optima turbo and gets much better gas mileage and much more space and better in basically every way. I also like that is basically has a Camry engine so parts are easily available and inexpensive. Firmer or softer suspension? No. More expensive interior materials? Not really if it means the car would have to be more expensive. Larger or smaller? Not really, we're easily able to fit all of our Costco runs.

It's pretty hard for me to think of ways to improve on it. Maybe a little better visibility out the back. I think the fact that you eventually have to pay a subscription fee for the traffic assist is BS.

The question is if you're getting the fully maxed luxury 350h if it's worth just going to the 450h+ because at that point its only like a $8k difference and you could save a lot of fuel.

The 500h has the most powerful setup (Hybrid Max). All I ask is that Lexus put the 5th gen hybrid (seen in Camry) in the 350h for 2025.

Wish this drivetrain will be offered to Crown Signia.
