Here you'll see how the CCT works on a 690 and how to set-it up before installing it.

I'll do another video for the whole procedure in the future.

Read the workshop manual first, they are all over the internet.
And, don't forget to check if the O'ring is still in the CCT's chamber.
Otherwise, setting-it up and installing it correctly is just a complete waste of time. ;)

Not the best solution IMO, as almost no mechanic know how to adjust these.
They are a thing of the past, like carburetted and air cooled engines.
Sure it works, but at what cost?
They need to be checked often, by somebody that knows what he's doing.

690's had some issues with these in the past, I would say until 2012/2013 or something like that.
Seems like the newer parts are better now, doesn't mean they last for ages though, of course...

I replace mine every 2 years in the same time I replace the spark plug etc.
It's less than 40€ in Europe...

shoud you change the oring? strugeling with low oil preshure when engine is hot, and i know that the chain slaps the engine block when this hapens. was wandering if the oring maby gone bad, but wery deficult to check

Any tip to re-set the oring in there? It took me 40min to get out. And already spent hour and a half trying to fit a new one in without luck.

This thing is taking years of life from me.

I Have the 2017's 701, and some mechanics told me i need a new one tensioner preferably manual. Is the stock hydraulic one repairable to save money? Is there a possibility a bad quality manual tensioner cause damage to the cam chain or something?

seems like you could just squeeze it in a vise and measure the protrusion?

I have a 2007 ktm 450 sxf and I’m being told this” According to the video, sounds like it’s out of time, 180 like it was timed on the decompression stroke.” How would I fix that exactly. I did what you did in this video and it didn’t change anything. What should I do to get it back into sync I guess..??

It only spins freely with the spark plug out but with it in it won’t turn over. Very tough for it to turn over
