The biggest reason for being skinny fat is extremely low protein diet

I’m not Indian but I am Mestizo (Spanish and Native American) and native Americans have almost the exact same genetic predisposition for similar reasons (famine and population bottlenecks from genocide).I have a classic skinny fat Native American body and most likely have much more slow twitch than fast twitch muscle fibers.Although I naturally am very good at cardio so that’s a plus.I am going to follow this program and method to see if it can help me.

I know this channel is called South Asian Strong but as a Southeast Asian a lot of what you say here applies to me too (we eat LOTS of rice/high carb food etc.). Been trying to transform my skinny fat body for years now, and I just starting to see meaningful changes recently after changing my diet and exercise habits.

I am not South Asian myself, but this will help out so many people. I think the unique approach to an individual’s genetics is often overlooked. We all have ancestors who adapted to their unique environments, which is why there is never a cookie cutter approach to fitness.

Damn bro, this is what I’ve struggled with over ~17 years of fitness and weight lifting. I didn’t know there was an actual genetic link, I’m 50% Bengali and have noticed this my whole life in myself and my family. I’ve gotten very lean and muscular at specific times but it’s damn near impossible to maintain. My body loves to go back to storing midsection fat while my face and arms remain skinny… it’s only gotten more challenging the older I get. Intermittent fasting and HIIT definitely help, I find that getting 6 miles (~15k) worth of steps on most days is kind of a silver bullet as well for controlled fat loss.

This is amazing information for people just getting into the gym but I think the most important thing for most people is to do what they can do for the rest of their lives. I think very optimal and detailed plans just leaves more room for people (especially newer people)to slip up and eventually give up the whole thing. Just for this reason I want people who read this and want to transform their body to not worry about all of this yet, just be more conscious of what you eat and work out the way you want to at first. Then when you get used to it use amazing videos like this as a tool to enhance your experience with the gym and your health. Once again amazing video, I will use this to better my experience with my gains!

Thank you so much for focusing on the genetic differences between South Asians and other populations, and how that factors into our difficulty in achieving the same aesthetic outcomes as Caucasians and Blacks . Of course, this goes far beyond the superficial. This skinny fat propensity, where we accrue a disproportionate amount of fat around the midsection, and are under muscled, goes a long way to explaining why we are more prone to suffering metabolic diseases, such as diabetes, than our Caucasian and Black counterparts. Central adiposity leads to insulin resistance, and having less muscle prevents the adequate disposal of glucose. This is a perfect storm for metabolic dysfunction. Hence, even if one has no sense of vanity, one should strive to reduce ones abdominal circumference and increase muscle mass to avoid the ravages of metabolic disease.

Being from a largely vegetarian family in UP, I was 100 kg in 2021. Now I weigh around 78 kg. All I did was decrease my carbs and eat meat and eggs everyday along with decent amount of workout 3-4 times a week and I've never felt better in my life. If a hopeless case like me did it, you can do it too, I believe in you.
