Here's a few pro tips for anyone travelling to Europe:
- don't act like a tourist
- exercise modesty
- there's a hell of a lot more to see than the capital cities
- don't expect everyone to speak perfect English
- don't get your ass too drunk at any moment

Remember all that and you'll be fine.

If long ass sponsor ads at the beginning of a short video were honest.

"No air-conditioning, " are the most offensive words you could ever tell a vacationing American. And of course The French said, "we do not need air-conditioning for our Olympics." 🤡

I think those tour packages and stuff like that are stupid. I studied abroad in Rome, and when I didn't have classes, I just went out and about, explored different parts of the cities, ate at local restaurants, shopped at local grocery stores, and even made some friends in Rome (learning the language for two semesters really helped with communication). One of my favorite things to do was to go on a random bus and get off on a random stop. There was always something to explore. It was a MUCH more rewarding experience than just going to all of the popular landmarks (and a lot of them are old churches).

Love how "I've been to Europe" means going to France, Italy and UK, for an average US tourist.

Someone tried to pick my pocket in Germany near this medieval festival. Our National Guard unit was on summer training, and I felt someone touch the top of my back pocket. Fortunately, I always carry my wallet in the front just for that very reason.

In the EU we use deodorant too.
And if you come to Italy, we also have bidets... do you know what they're for, right?

Ah, brings back memories of my 5 weeks travelling europe by rail. (For months afterward I had recurring dreams of being stuck in train stations.) Having visited Paris, my current theory on why they're perceived as rude is that they have 2 functioning public toilets for a population of 2.1 million. My worst experience with paid public toilets was in a train station in Switzerland. The only toilets were paid toilets, exact change only. Great, except for two things:
1. I had arrived at 5am and the money changers had not yet opened.
2. Switzerland is not part of the european monetary union, so they had their own currency.

The overwhelming ammount of American travelers I've talked to stated, that all in all their trip to Europe was amazing or even lifechanging.

Experiences may differ ofc and yea, overtourism may have caused for some attractions to becone needlessly expensive, but that's how supply and demand works.

Thank you for making me feel better for not being able to afford a European vacation, as you have previously made me feel better for not being able to afford a cruise or a trip to a resort. Now I can stay at home in the USA where all is wonderful and nothing is overpriced and feel a smug sense of superiority that I'm not one of those suckers off vacationing.

As someone who lives in Europe I would agree to nearly anything instead of the costs.

Yes 5k are a lot of money but making a three to four week vacation in the USA are far more expensive.

The last time I has been there in a restaurant I paid with the tip and additional service costs over 60$ for only one meal.

For this amount of money it is possible to feed two tourists und Europe or even three to four in the bit cheaper countries like Italy Poland and Spain
