Egypt: The WORST Country I Ever Visited – My WARNING to Future Travelers

When I visited Egypt, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I was very excited to witness ancient Egypt, I've always been fascinated by the pyramids and their construction. From exploring the top ten sites, from the pyramids of Giza, the Giant Sphinx, Temple of Luxor, Temple of Karnak, avenue of Sphinxes, to the valley of kings and queens we explored it all in this travel vlog. From dangerous cities to sketchy neighborhoods, I experienced it all. In this video, I share my journey and the lessons I learned along the way. I was sad to see travelers exploited from the second they arrived in the airport. Constant solicitation and scammers take away from once a magical place. I don't even know how to begin to describe the animal cruelty I witnessed. From Cairo to Luxor there wasn't much of a difference, but I can definitely recommend Luxor over Cairo. This is my warning to all future travelers: tread lightly, and be prepared for anything!"

I am currently in Egypt, my fourth day so far. I am watching this to get some comfort. This is the worst, most miserable experience I’ve had travelling.

We went here as a layover coming back from our honeymoon and it was the scariest experience we've ever had. We were so happy to be back home after this experience. From the pushy taxi drivers and absolutely rudest people (even getting off the airplane, we were shoved left and right and that was when our plane's wheels just hit the runway). Getting harassed everywhere, even in the airport by people attempting to push our luggage, and the unhelpful police. We couldn't find our Uber and were told by taxi drivers that the pickup point does not exist, although it was just the parking lot downstairs. Scams and rude people everywhere. Even our hotel had rude staff, and cigarette smoke everywhere. We were so scared of getting food poisoning that we stuck to the disgusting hotel food. We were fortunate enough that this layover was less than one day. Then when we headed to the pyramids, we were hassled and forced to take a camel tour by people that worked with our prepaid Taxi ride there. Then after the tour of the pyramids, they bring you to a place to buy perfumes.

When we thought it was all over and we were flying back, we had a delay at our airport due to foggy and unsafe flight conditions. A lot of impatient Egyptian passengers started yelling at the flight crew. I could tell by the air stewardesses that this was common behavior. One man was even smoking in the bathroom!

OVERALL, worst ever experience for us. We have been to other third world countries like India, Syria, and Yemen and never experienced such terrible 3rd class people.

DO NOT EVER COME HERE. NOT EVEN FOR THE PYRAMIDS. It was DEFINITELY not worth it for seeing the Pyramids and the Sphinx. Save yourself the misery and money. You're better off watching a documentary on the Pyramids.

After travelling to 70+ countries Egypt stands out as the most unpleasant and predatory of them all.

sad to see the comments, but true, why is this place so low? is it the culture? poverty has nothing to do with such scammers trying to rip you off every second...

There are poorer places in Europe but they have so much dignity and respect

Just got back from Egypt not only did i stay in that hotel, I was in that exact room . The airport employees were the worst people i interacted with. The trash is gross. They don't respect their country but the government is failing them. The history is rich and beautiful.

Dude, as an Egyptian, Taxi drivers always try to swindle me. They just don't give a toss. Can't imagine how it must be like when you can't even speak the language. That's why I always go for Uber.

I had been interested in going to Egypt to see the pyramids. However, many different governments guidelines advise agaisnt all travel to Eygpt, for reasons including,

-terrorism - high risk of attack on foreigners, tourist areas and on Egyptian security forces
-kidnappings
-sexual assaults epecially on lone female travellers
-scamming (particularly at tourist sites)
Intolerance to other religions
extremely harsh prison sentences or even death penalty for even tiny amounts of illegal drugs
-prison for criticism of their govenment in any way
- possible prison for taking photographs that could be damaging to the country's imagine
-prison for using drones
- homophobia, possible prison under the law of debauchery.
air or sea rescue requires payment up front up to 4000 US dollars per hour
- Road accidents are common due to poor road conditions
-serious bus, rail and ferry accidents due to overcrowding and poor regulations

The above reason, coupled together with peoples personal accounts of being aggressive harrassed and scammed by locals, means that I will make a logical decision never to visit Eypyt. I guess some places are just not worth visiting, even if they have breathtaling structures such as the pyramids and other ancient archaeological sites.

Sad, but true. I would recommend paying a guide (there are some companies) and stick to them all the time, to avoid trouble. The excursions would cost you around 70 Euros a day. You get full service (tickets, food, taxi often included) But be prepared to pay tips for everything (around 10E additional per day). We did a 15 days roundtrip (Aswan - Luxor - Cairo - Hurghada) three weeks ago. The ship, taxi, hotels, and flights altogether for 1500, - p.P and additional costs were 900, -E p.P for the excursions, tips, and souvenirs. Just to give you rough estimate. Everything done with the guide was good, and almost everything we did on our, own was a terrible experience.

I went with guided tour. I agree 100% about the people. My dream of pyramids was so disturbed by the environment and people trying to sell things or rides. I found myself just trying to avoid the people who constantly kept tdying to sell something, no matter where. So was the opinion of my friends. There were more sites I d like to return to visit, like from Luxor to Abu Simbel on a boat, but, remembering the hustle, and watching the related videos, I gave up the idea of going back.

I visited Egypt via a cruise from Cyprus in 1995. My ex is white and I am black so we’re used to the odd stare but this was ridiculous. Add to that, the men leered at her and were aggressive as F. Everywhere we went, the people seemed unhappy and everything seemed a chore for them. As the uploader said, their selling tactics are the absolute worst and border on threatening. Overall, there was a distinct air of uneasiness and anger during our 3 day stay. To be fair, we didn’t get to experience the people away from the touristy areas as I’m sure the general population are lovely. I’ll never find out as I wouldn’t go back.

Totally agree my friend.

I’ve traveled to over 80 countries and this was by far the worst.

I realise Egypt has some lovely and honest people but unfortunately I never met one.

The best thing about Egypt was the flight home.

Every travel blogger I've read and watched in the last 5 years have given an awful review of Egypt.

Went to Egypt with my family when I was a teenager. Hated the experience. Constantly harassed wherever you go. My brother brought his girlfriend with him, who was very attractive, with him as well on our holiday. I wish he hadn't brought her due to the 30 odd creepy men that wouldn't stop following us everywhere we went, scaring all of us. I honestly could not wait to leave when I was there. After that, I would never go back to Egypt again!

Egyptian here and I really don't recommend anybody to ever think of traveling to Egypt, and if you choose to go tolerate the consequences.

Too many people are saying the exact same thing. Worth noting. Thank you for sharing. I lost interest after women shared their experiences of being harassed by the locals. I’m over it. No need to see in person. I will watch documentaries instead.

I went there in 2013 for like 3 days and I was happy to get out of there. Got denied entry to the pyramid because my GoPro was running. Had to find another gate. So many skilled scammers around...

Just left Giza and can honestly say Egypt is a horrible place. So dirty and corrupt.
